Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

has anyone bought the 2016 Hallmark card studio for mac? I am having problems with the programme shutting down unexpectedly.

Anyone suggest a cure for my iMac shutting down when trying to edit projects in Hallmark Card studio? Hallmark support have tried several remedies to no avail and suggest its something in my iMac which is affecting the programme. Any suggestions?

Yes, thanks. It seems that the Hallmark app is crashing while trying to save. This is certainly a bug in the Hallmark app because end-user applications really should not crash, they should present a nice clear dialog explaining the problem. Anyway...

Next, have a look in

Utilities > Console.app > SYSTEM LOG QUERIES > All Messages

for messages that appear in the time of the crash, i.e.

2016-05-01 13:22:19.848

and also search for 'Hallmark' using the small search box in the upper right of the Console.app window.

THESE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE MANY. I'm sure they'll make sense to you!

They don't tell us much more than we already know, which is there is a bug in the Hallmark app. This presumably doesn't affect everybody using but something on your machine is provoking it. The usual suspects are corrupted preferences , corrupted fonts or an application that's been installed with incorrect permissions. Since you have already sought advice from Hallmark they should already told you how to clean out the preferences and reinstall the app.

I assume that the app comes with a lot of clipart, etc. that you put together to make a card. It's possible that one of these graphics is corrupt. Perhaps you are the only person who's used it on a Mac. You might try starting with a blank card and do something very simple. If this works, try adding a graphic, build up to see if you can narrow down the cause.

Or, you could ask Hallmark to refund the cost of the app and use another service for creating your card. There are plenty of companies in the market.
