iPhone 5s and new SE cannot AirPlay

hi. My new SE and the older 5s I have cannot AirPlay. I was looking forward getting the SE as my 5s was only able to AirPlay 1 every 10 tries, and if able, then for max 4-6 min (1-2 songs). However, the SE has exactly the same problem. For those of you with time on your hands, here's the situation:

AirPlay always working, all the time for:

  • three iPod Touch (I have 3 teenagers)
  • two iPads (one very old and a recent one)
  • three iPhone 5c
  • one iPhone 5s (not the one I have problem with)
  • three iPhone 6s
  • one iMac (iOS 10.11.4 and previous versions, the iTunes mothership for most of the devices shown)
  • 3 different AirPlay enabled devices on the other end: AppleTV, Airport Express, and Denon AVR-X3000

AirPlay working only about 10% of the time and only for a few minutes:

  • iPhone 5s and iPhone SE (the SE was restored from the iPhone 5s back-up using iTunes on iMac, but also Setup as a new phone when problem carried over)
  • All 3 receiving devices are shown on these 2 iPhones (AirPlay icons for all 3 AirPlay enabled devices show), can sometimes be selected (10% of the time), if so, gets the media played or cuts off after 4-6 minutes. Sometimes I cannot select the device (the tick mark doesn't move)
  • The two iPhones not working have exactly the same ‘symptoms’
  • All software is up to date, with problem occurring throughout all iOS versions used (iOS 8 and 9.3.1 for the 5s and 9.3.1 for SE)

Settings/actions done, none of which have fixed the problem:

  • Three different routers tested: Airport Express or Airport Extreme or TP-Link Archer C9 (the current router)
  • All bands tested: 2.4GHz (b/g/n or n only) and 5GHz (ac or ac/n), and all channels
  • Router reset and reboot multiple times, power off etc., latest firmware, not much neighbour WiFi traffic (2-4 at most, different channels)
  • iPhone reset (‘All Settings’ and ‘Network Settings’) and rebooted multiple times
  • Removed SIM card, reinserted, or left it out
  • For both phones, I’ve tried both ‘Restore from backup’ or ‘Setup as a new phone’

Sorry this s long, but this is driving me nuts, not because AirPlay is important for humanity, just because I'm really curious what the problem could be. I have no IT or network knowledge to speak of but this is getting very interesting. What I don't understand is why all the other devices work perfectly, and the 2 iPhones don't. The only thing that is the same for the 2 iPhones and different for the other devices is the owner, me :-/ ... and bunch of apps.

Thanks!! Oskar

Thanks ManSinha.

Yes, I did this already (last bullet point in my original post), and the issue remains for both phones. However, what I did was to do 'Erase All Content and Settings' on the phone, and then setup as new from iTunes. This is what don't suggest to do.

If I start the process from iTunes using 'Restore iPhone...', it begins by downloading the iOS 'iPhone Software Update'. Is this normal, as it's already running 9.3.1 ? So there is a difference between these two methods I presume? I'll try this.

cheers
