I can't partition my Mac to a single volume for bootcamp

I have a 1 TB drive that "must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows." When I went to disk utility, it just said that I only have one partition at 850 GB. How can I fix this?
