ipad pro 9.7 update 9.3.2 issue

Today when I tried to update my IPad with the 9.3.2 update over wifi, after downloading the update and the install started like usual. Upon rebooting, I get the Connect to iTunes screen. I connect my iPad to iTunes and try to update it, says update failed and that I need to do a restore. The restore fails (error code 56). I tried all of the fixes from the help page with no luck. Any suggestions or do I need to send off my iPad for repair?

Thanks

I haven't updated my iPad Pro 9.7 to iOS 9.3.2 yet based on all the news out there on this issue. I think Apple is well aware of this issue, but don't want to make a big deal out of it. As you've seen, the media was on top of it originally, but in the last couple days, there have been no updates and has been forgotten mostly. I'm guessing if it truly is a hardware issue, Apple hasn't had time to complete the fix unless they knew about it and made changes and still shipped "bad" product out originally. If it is a software/firmware issue, then there should be a change to the update and those of us waiting to update should hear something as to when it is okay to do so. In any event, this issue hasn't been handled very clearly and openly with the customers.

Curious though for those who have had their iPad replaced, have you updated to iOS 9.3.2 or are you waiting? If you've updated, did it go okay and did you do it wired via iTunes or OTA? Thanks.

4. If you still see the error message, you can check for outdated or modified software or contact Apple support.

My iPad Pro 9.7 is bricked as well, same symptoms as mentioned earlier in the thread. Attempted OTA (WiFi) update like I did on my other three iOS devices and it flipped to the recovery screen. Attempts to recover/update fail at about 75% of progress on the white Apple screen, throwing Error 56 on the computer side.

Had a chat last night with Apple online support who went in circles and said my iMac had a problem. I explained that I had tried the update on three different OSX machines: iMac, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. All three, with three different OEM Lightning cables all failed the same way at the same point. I ended p dropping off the chat as it was going nowhere.

Took the Pro 9.7 to the Genius Bar today and replicated the same Error 56 on their machine in-store. They are replacing my iPad (6 weeks old) but as others have mentioned, they didn't have any on hand or at neighboring stores, so it's "on order." No ETA for the replacement unit. Bummer!

Ipad Brick after IOS update, cannot sync with iTunes, upgraded/updated to new IOS updateiOS 9.3.217 May and now Ipad shows iTunes icon with lightning plug. MacBook will show error 56. When will the update fix be out? I'm sure there are hundreds of thousands or more customer dead in water with their iPad brick. Went to the Apple Store and they told me, "sorry" it is a hardware problem. We'll have to order a replacement and we'll call you and let you know when you can pick it up."

This is software issue not a hardware issue, millions of iPads would have to be replaced if this were a hardware problem. Bad decision to issue a knee-jerk reaction to a software crash that could be fixed with a software update.
