ipad pro 9.7 update 9.3.2 issue

Today when I tried to update my IPad with the 9.3.2 update over wifi, after downloading the update and the install started like usual. Upon rebooting, I get the Connect to iTunes screen. I connect my iPad to iTunes and try to update it, says update failed and that I need to do a restore. The restore fails (error code 56). I tried all of the fixes from the help page with no luck. Any suggestions or do I need to send off my iPad for repair?

Thanks

iPad Pro, iOS 9.3.2

The problem is the update, and although Apple fails to acknowledge the update failure, if you Google "iPad update 9.3.2" you'll see numerous entries regarding this royal update screw up. Some have had had their iPads incapacitated and others like myself have been merely unable to upgrade: "You are not connected to the Internet" -- huh?. Some have received the message to connect to iTunes and others received the Error 56 message. This is an Apple update failure, which impacts some but not all iPads - mostly the iPad Pro 9.7 inch.

The update problem is one thing, but the bungling way that Apple is handling it is completely incompetent. Why not have a bold ,message on the Web site: "Warning - the 9.3.2 update has bugs. Do not attempt to update now?" Or what about sending an email message to all registered owners? That should be simple enough since email addresses are recorded during registration. Or what about sending an Alert message to all tech support people so when you call, you aren't wasting unnecessary time - lots of it - trouble shooting an issue that cannot be resolved. Better still, when you go to the Apple Website and input that you have a problem with updates, it seems easy enough to generate a message that explains the situation. Apple failed to do that. Not only is virtually no information available directly from Apple, the tech support staff is equally blind to the current situation. That's why you'll end up doing tech support troubleshooting handstands if you call.

I called tech support and spent 10 minutes with a complete fool who wanted me to check my memory but couldn't tell me where to look (Settings, General/About). "Let me place you on hold while I check that." Ten minutes later, I asked for a senior tech who had been clearly housed in a padded cell for his adult life. After I explained the problem, and I received an inexcusably rude reply with the suggestion that I should have checked the Web beyond the Apple site, I hung up..

Sure, updates fail, hardware fails, people make mistakes, but this takes the cake when it comes to handling a situation. Apple support on this is about inept as it gets. Solution: DO NOT UPDATE. That's not a great help to all those who attempted to upgrade and wound up being screwed by Apple.

This is not a compliant forum. It is here to be helpful and to provide insist into the problem. If you had read the forum you would clearly see that Apple pulled the update as soon as they knew there was a problem, as I had posted that earlier. This makes your grand solution null. Code is massive and mistakes happen. They happened under Steve, they happen now. Posting complaints is not helpful. There are hundreds of forums for you to do just that. Apple has reached out and said they are working on a fix (Link Below).

HIs right to complain or not was not my point. It is very discouraging that these things happen. However, this place is to provide support for each other. You complaints are not helping this goal. There are many forums meant for complaints. Also, I have provided a link for complaints that will get directly to Apple. Please use it or the many forums to send Feedback.

Actually, it might help if you and PaoloPeru read the ToU which you agreed to when you established an account here - Apple moderators (hosts) regularly delete posts which violate the ToU:

https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-5952

(in particular, Section 2.1 - 2.3). These are forums for technical questions and answers - let's keep it that way. Since Apple does not participate here, rants and complaints are not at all useful.

I just plugged my iPad Pro 9.7 into iTunes and it said iOS 9.3.2 was ready to download and install. Did they just pull the OTA update or has 9.3.2 been put back out there? I'm not going to install 9.3.2 with either method until I hear something firm from Apple on what the issue is and when it is okay to update.

Actually Apple does look at these forums, they usually (but not always) decline to comment. And someone coming here to post about their problem, even in the form of a complaint does help others. It warns them about the issue and it demonstrates that the issue is not an rare or isolated event. It is not for other users to determine what someone can or can't say.

Not for me. I called Thursday and was told it would ship Friday "Express replacement". Talked to Level 2 yesterday. Said it would ship today. Still has not shipped out. Very very disappointed in Apple.

If it was my bad for breaking it, then I'm mad at me. I use this expressly for work. Note taking, etc.

Makes me want to go back to that "S" company...
