iTunes Not Displaying All Albums in Grid View

Latest version of iTunes, just download 12.4.0.119. A major discrepancy in over 1,600 of my albums no longer show up at all in grid view. They are still there on the HDD, and they do show up in Artist view. Anyone else noticed this bug. Maybe no one in Apple software engineering tests with as many tracks as I have in my collection? All was displaying correctly in previous versions of iTunes, so the latest update has broken something. I have reported the bug to Apple, but I guess they get thousands of submissions every day...

This is happening to me too, and in my case it appears to be that albums marked as 'Compilation' are not showing in grid view. Is that the case for you too? The music is still, there and, as you say, can be viewed through the 'Artist' menu. Presumably just a bug as I can't see why it would be logical to hide compilation albums from the album view pane.

I'm getting a lesser album count in album view than I am artist view. My problem is that Compilations cannot be all the missing albums.

Artist View tells me "All Artists 4761 Albums" and directly under that it tells me Compilations 556 albums.

Album View tells me 3905 Albums - a difference of 856 - more than the Compilations.

Also - at the very bottom of the album view, I can see the compilations. What's more - still in album view, I shift+click to the end from first compilation to last and it tells me 556 of 3905 selected.

So I'm a windows users, it can see the compilations, but I'm still missing 856 albums somewhere.

What the ****?

That just makes the number worse. My 556 Compilation albums are 8537 songs. And again - they ARE visible in album view. I cannot find anything that adds up to the missing 856 album count.

Wait.

So Compilation has an album "Golden Classic Hits By Your Favorite Female Artists" (Don't judge.) and it has 8 songs by 8 different artists.

The Artist view is counting that 9 times??? Once in compilations, and once per artist down the list?

So this is not a bug as much as Apple math and human math are not the same?

Yeah. If they didn't group the albums like that i think it would be easier. If you were looking for a track by a certain artist on that compilation the idea is so you can have that track grouped with the featured artists' other individual works when you search for that artist. Browsing that album grid should include an option to organize them by album name instead of album artist name. That might make it easier.

Thanks - at least can now find the "missing" albums, but still doesn't really address issue of essentially having two lists of albums - "compilations" and "non-compilations". is there a way to show both together in an album list? (changing info for "compilation" albums to a non-compilation album presents a whole other set of problems that don't really want either.)

Thank-you so much for this! I had the same issue where the compilation albums were not displaying as compilation albums, but once I deleted the sorting album artist the album moved into compilations where it should be. I find iTunes so frustrating, it wasn't broken before, why try to fix it? (Rant over).
