Verizon Fios G1110 replace with AE

Hi,

I'm sorry if I'm asking this que again. Please guide me to the links that you guys think will be helpful.

I've Verizon Fios G1110 router installed by Verizon guys and an Ethernet WAN is connected to this router.

I'm paying rent for this router which I do not want to.

I've an Airport Extreme which I would like to use instead of this verizon router.

I tried connecting the Ethernet WAN wire that is coming from the box outside (I assume its the verizon modem) of my house to AE but keep getting the flashing amber light

Before disconnecting the verizon router I renewed the DCHP lease and immediately disconnected the verizon router, but the issue prevails.

I did not try the option yet that some of the posts I read here mentioned - to disconnect it while going to bed and reconnect in the morning.

Do you guys think this will help?

Any other suggestions.

Thank you.

Cheers,

Suyog

Tesserax,

After 3.5 - 4 hrs of struggle, I'm glad to report that I was able to replace the verizon router with Airport Extreme only (no modem, no bridge. Directly plugged Ethernet WAN cable from Verizon in the AE)

What worked for me is the comment from vedic_cult in this link below -

Can I replace my Verizon FIOS router with my 2010 Apple Extreme router without any dire consequences?

and comment from agmm in the link below -

Airport extreme no internet, though light is green

Thank you so much for your help on this..

Cheers,

Suyog...
