How do I get rid of Norton quarantined (Bulk, phishing) email envelopes left in the in-box

The eMails were correctly identified as malicious and quarantined by Norton Antivirus. However the software left the now empty envelopes sitting in the in-box of Mail. Trying to Trash them in the normal way produce a message that they cannot be deleted because they do not exist ( i.e. they are in quarantine with a Norton assigned name and the link between the envelope and the content is of course broken). Norton should link an explanatory message to the now empty envelope perhaps with an explanation and the things could then be deleted in the normal way,

Right now, I do not see any solution to getting rid of the empty envelopes and OSx (up to date) obviously doesn't know how to deal with them.

Anyone please, any ideas?...

...and please don't give me the usual lectures about not installing Norton or any other malware security on a Mac,...think about the phishing emails it just identified and quarantined before my less attentive household members could have opened them.

Interesting,... on this page the pull-down menu to identify your OS does not include any of the version 10 updates??...

iMac (27-inch Mid 2010), iOS 9.3.2, OS is actually 10.11.4 (missing)

Well, somedody's got to do it...

Rudegar is correct. Phishing emails are just emails, they don't need to be quarantined like hemorrhagic fever, Just trash them.

A Mac can pick up browser pop-ups and the like, but not if you just use common sense. You really have to actively invite some malware in for it to happen. That means downloading and knowingly giving your password for it to download. Mac provides all the protection you need with SIP (System Integrity Protection). If you do happen to download adware use MalwareBytes.to get rid of it.

Also stay away from programs that purport to "clean your Mac". Your Mac needs no cleaning, all that is taken care of quite well by the system.
