I agree, why does the site say that it is an option for purchasing AppleCare+ online if it hasn't worked in months?? The most annoying part is that clicking the link takes you to a page that requires you to enter your hardware serial number, which identifies your device along with an AppleCare+ link to confirm you want to "Learn more and buy now". Clicking this link takes you to a page literally titled "Purchase AppleCare Products" and shows AppleCare+ listed along with your phone model, serial number, the $129 price, and a huge button that says BUY. Also, somewhere in the process you have to login with your Apple ID and then do a 6-digit verification code process. Anyways, after you click the BUY button, it just loads a blank page and nothing happens. It makes you think you're crazy, so you try it again. It still doesn't work, so you try it two more times from your iPad. It still doesn't work, so you try again on your computer. STILL DOESN'T WORK!!

Important notes

Purchase AppleCare+ with your new iPhone. Or buy it within 60 days of your iPhone purchase:

  • Online (requires you to verify your serial number and run a remote diagnostic)
  • At an Apple Store (inspection of iPhone and proof of purchase are required)
  • Or call (800) 275-2273 (requires you to run a remote diagnostic and provide proof of purchase)

I was having this same issue for over a week. And after trying to get through the Payment screen twice, I was finally able to get through and purchase AppleCare at 6:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning. It took me a week to be able to get to that screen however, never even able to get to the diagnostic screen, so I can only wonder if they are just that busy and you just have keep trying and try at different times of the day. I hope this helps!

The means to purchase AppleCare for your iPhone if you did not purchase it in the same transaction that you made for your iPhones will be to either Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support or go into an Apple Retail Store to have it inspected for the sale and registry of AppleCare with your iPhone. Because AppleCare+ can cover accidental damage as well as manufacturer issues, the present state of the iPhone has to be confirmed prior to sale. Over the phone, AppleCare can run a diagnostic with you to achieve this.
