iCloud Drive is 'FULL' but really it's EMPTY!

Like the title says, my icloud drive folder is completely empty. Yet I can't save any documents there.

I deleted everything in there, because recently I haven't been able to save anything in icloud drive.

I mainly use it for pages, and I had 2.3GB of free storage but still weren't able to save anything in icloud drive (pages in macbook air/ or ioS pages iphone).

Nothing worked!

I noticed that the iCloud Drive App (iOS 9.3.2 latest at the time) status down on the bottom of the app said "-5.11 GB available on iCloud".

I couldn't believe my eyes!!! 5.11GB Where???

That's when I decided to delete everything in the iCloud Drive Folder (of course, after backing it up first).

Everything in there deleted, but the storage remained the same at "-5.11GB"

I tried deleting and resetting the Network in the iPhone, didn't affect anything.

Turned everything related to iCloud Drive, and disconnected (signed out) from iCloud... NOTHING!😢

As I'm writing right now, my iCloud Drive app in the iphone just changed status to "-4.59 GB". Remember my iCloud Preferences says I have 2.3 GB available of storage... 😮

I don't know why??? It's been a couple of hours since I deleted everything, and now am about to reinstall my macbook air.

That is what the "genius" in the Apple consumer contact told me to do.

He said they never heard of this problem...

Please, tell me somebody has had a similar problem???

What could be the problem? Is it related with Apple server? Is it a corrupted folder??? .... 😕

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5), iPhone 6 64GB iOS 9.3.2

This may not help but be aware that not everything that is counted towards your iCloud storage is stored and visible in iCloud Drive. There are other things such as iPhone backups, iCloud Photo Library that count against the storage but are not in iCloud Drive. See the following for information on how to see how much space they are taking: Manage your iCloud storage - Apple Support

Read my response above. You have to call Apple Support and have a second level support person clear the icloud from their end. Don't let them make you wipe your phone. The first level support person will try to walk you through various steps but keep insisting it is something they need a higher level support person to do. My situation was my icloud was almost completely filled with "documents" even though there were no documents anywhere to be found. Not sure if this is the same as everyone else's situation on this discussion.

Thanks for the reply, and YES I know that there could be other features or apps using data of iCloud drive. But I don't use iPhone backup (do so locally to Macbook) iCloud Photo library (also store all photos locally using Photo stream & Photo Sharing).

I really and literally only use iCloud Drive for Pages Documents (there are very simple text docs, nothing complicated or big file size)

and for Preview to keep some of my PDF and PNG document files (again all small size files)...

That's it!

Other than that, my iCloud Drive status in the preferences shows I am currently using 1.8GB Documents (but I'm really NOT, there are NO folders or documents currently in iCloud Drive)

Also I'm using ONLY 187MB (that is not a typo MB not GB) of Photos in my Photo Stream (only 70 Pictures).

My mail is only using 648MB of storage, cause I constantly delete JUNK files and keep my folders clean.

That is all I'm using for iCloud, how come if I'm only using about 2GB of Data with my cloud stuff, and my iCloud Drive Folder is EMPTY...

HOW COME I don't have any storage left???

Why does my iPhone says I'm using 4.5GB on iCloud when the folder is empty???

I understand 100% your pain. I have the same issue. I contacted apple and she said I have to wait 30 days after disabling iCloud for photos. In my case, my I cloud says I am using 2.2 GB in photos and pictures. I deleted all the pictures and photos everywhere and I emptied the deleted folder. Now it says that I have 0 Pics and 0 videos and I am using 2.2 GB for photos and videos. This is driving me crazy. They only way I could regain the space in my iCloud is to disable sharing pics and photos. But already I have 0 photos and videos. Why 2.2 GB taken as photos and videos yet I have 0? No one was able to answer me to this question. There is glitch in the server and now these 2.2 GB stuck and not going at all. If someone found a solution, please post it. Thanks.

I have had similar problem since March. I have deleted all content on iCloud and still shows full and no backups occurring as not enough space. I have spent hours and hours on phone with Apple support, done diagnostics for them, sent in results, waited for engineers to review and still nothing. Have not gotten reply from them for weeks and keep contacting.... ready to trash account and start over.

I had the same issue, my phone was saying that my icloud was full of basically only documents that I could not delete or access in any way... very frustrating!! But I figured out a solution. You have to call Apple Support. Don't bother with the chat because you won't get anywhere. You have to speak to the first representative who will walk you through standard steps that don't work (don't let them make you erase your phone because it won't work) and then ask them to transfer you to a higher level person. They have to do something on their end to wipe the ghost documents from the Icloud that are there due to icloud drive. Apparently icloud drive works when you receive attachments or pictures through text or email and open them on your phone, it automatically uploads them to the icloud drive which you can never actually access but apparently can help them be restored if your phone ever gets broken. Not worth the hassle! Turn off icloud drive in your settings and just save your attachment directly to your phone if you want to keep it. I hope this helps other people because I could not find anything online about this matter!

I have a similar problem and I have already deleted, backups from my phone, photos and literally everything. the space used up does not show in colours on my MacBook Air in the bar when managing storage. as a matter of fact when I go to manage my storage there are about 8mb worth of files (calendar and mail) that are visible. On my phone I can see that the used up space is greyed out in the bar. I have called apple service 2 weeks ago and they confirmed that something was wrong, so my case would go to an apple's technician. They told me that they were going to call me latest on Tuesday 2 weeks ago. I have received no call, nor was anything solved.

I am 100% positive that I cannot delete any more files on my cloud drive, except for those 8mb in calendar and mail, which I do not want to delete, since those are essential.

EDIT: I could solve this problem myself now. What I did is going to iCloud.com -> settings, -> recover files -> selected all recoverable files and deleted them. Now my iCloud Drive is completely empty and the standard 5gb are available!

Thanks, but yea I'm know about the storage list, but that's the problem... the Manage Storage says the same thing that I have 2.3GB available.

And I only have the apps I really need and use checked "on". Mail, Calendar, Keychain, Find My iPhone, Photos Stream, Contacts, Notes, iCloud Drive (inside iCloud Drive; iBooks which don't have any books at the moment, Mail has 648MB, Numbers 0 files, Pages 0 files)
