iCloud Drive is 'FULL' but really it's EMPTY!

Like the title says, my icloud drive folder is completely empty. Yet I can't save any documents there.

I deleted everything in there, because recently I haven't been able to save anything in icloud drive.

I mainly use it for pages, and I had 2.3GB of free storage but still weren't able to save anything in icloud drive (pages in macbook air/ or ioS pages iphone).

Nothing worked!

I noticed that the iCloud Drive App (iOS 9.3.2 latest at the time) status down on the bottom of the app said "-5.11 GB available on iCloud".

I couldn't believe my eyes!!! 5.11GB Where???

That's when I decided to delete everything in the iCloud Drive Folder (of course, after backing it up first).

Everything in there deleted, but the storage remained the same at "-5.11GB"

I tried deleting and resetting the Network in the iPhone, didn't affect anything.

Turned everything related to iCloud Drive, and disconnected (signed out) from iCloud... NOTHING!😢

As I'm writing right now, my iCloud Drive app in the iphone just changed status to "-4.59 GB". Remember my iCloud Preferences says I have 2.3 GB available of storage... 😮

I don't know why??? It's been a couple of hours since I deleted everything, and now am about to reinstall my macbook air.

That is what the "genius" in the Apple consumer contact told me to do.

He said they never heard of this problem...

Please, tell me somebody has had a similar problem???

What could be the problem? Is it related with Apple server? Is it a corrupted folder??? .... 😕

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5), iPhone 6 64GB iOS 9.3.2

This may not help but be aware that not everything that is counted towards your iCloud storage is stored and visible in iCloud Drive. There are other things such as iPhone backups, iCloud Photo Library that count against the storage but are not in iCloud Drive. See the following for information on how to see how much space they are taking: Manage your iCloud storage - Apple Support

I understand 100% your pain. I have the same issue. I contacted apple and she said I have to wait 30 days after disabling iCloud for photos. In my case, my I cloud says I am using 2.2 GB in photos and pictures. I deleted all the pictures and photos everywhere and I emptied the deleted folder. Now it says that I have 0 Pics and 0 videos and I am using 2.2 GB for photos and videos. This is driving me crazy. They only way I could regain the space in my iCloud is to disable sharing pics and photos. But already I have 0 photos and videos. Why 2.2 GB taken as photos and videos yet I have 0? No one was able to answer me to this question. There is glitch in the server and now these 2.2 GB stuck and not going at all. If someone found a solution, please post it. Thanks.

I have had similar problem since March. I have deleted all content on iCloud and still shows full and no backups occurring as not enough space. I have spent hours and hours on phone with Apple support, done diagnostics for them, sent in results, waited for engineers to review and still nothing. Have not gotten reply from them for weeks and keep contacting.... ready to trash account and start over.

I had the same issue, my phone was saying that my icloud was full of basically only documents that I could not delete or access in any way... very frustrating!! But I figured out a solution. You have to call Apple Support. Don't bother with the chat because you won't get anywhere. You have to speak to the first representative who will walk you through standard steps that don't work (don't let them make you erase your phone because it won't work) and then ask them to transfer you to a higher level person. They have to do something on their end to wipe the ghost documents from the Icloud that are there due to icloud drive. Apparently icloud drive works when you receive attachments or pictures through text or email and open them on your phone, it automatically uploads them to the icloud drive which you can never actually access but apparently can help them be restored if your phone ever gets broken. Not worth the hassle! Turn off icloud drive in your settings and just save your attachment directly to your phone if you want to keep it. I hope this helps other people because I could not find anything online about this matter!

Thanks, but yea I'm know about the storage list, but that's the problem... the Manage Storage says the same thing that I have 2.3GB available.

And I only have the apps I really need and use checked "on". Mail, Calendar, Keychain, Find My iPhone, Photos Stream, Contacts, Notes, iCloud Drive (inside iCloud Drive; iBooks which don't have any books at the moment, Mail has 648MB, Numbers 0 files, Pages 0 files)

Same problem here.

Only 60 Mb's for Mail.

Pages, Numbers etc moved to dropbox.

No iPhone/iPad backup anymore. No photo sync.

4,94 GB free of space but also popups icloud drive is full.

Frustrating. Apple is working on my case hopefully they find something.

Logout iCloud done, Another account works on my Macbook.

Tried everything what hananias also has done.

Still the same problem.

Even on icloud.com when i want to upload something...

I think Apple just want to get more of your money... I have the same issue: iCloud is just EMPTY (I've tested on my mac, on my windows, and directly on the website.). But iCloud send frequent reminders to force me to pay.

When I see the details, I see "document" with a size of 5GB. But I cannot find this folder anywhere... everything is just empty.

I'm so ****** by Apple 😟 because I've spend so many hours trying to fix this problem.

Another thing, the authentication really ***** on Apple. Finally I've written everything on some papers are it's the worst ever password strategy I've ever seen.

(A ****** consumer...)

Well I don't think this will work for me, I don't have a Mac and my Windows 10 laptop is not connected to iCloud in any way. I only use one iPad and one iPhone.

My iCloud storage is 5GB but it tells me there is 3 GB in use by "iCloud Documents". The folder is empty and my iphone and ipad backups have been removed. So as far as I can see there is no data in my iCloud. At least nothing more for me to delete.... Now i'm stuck. If i want to re-enable my iPhone icloud backup it says there is not enough space

I cannot edit my prior post for what ever reason.. ah the apple experience I am guessing..

This is still not solved it only shows in settings that I have 5gb available, however in my iCloud Drive I still have 2,2gb used up, which simply makes no sense.. well so much about reliability of Apple's cloud. I will simply stop using it, I do not trust this thing with my personal files and I would suggest to anybody doing the same.

Who knows what invisible files there are? malware? old files you thought were deleted? whatever it is it shows that apple cannot be trusted with your personal files.. actually right now I am thinking of installing linux on my MacBook..
