iCloud Drive is 'FULL' but really it's EMPTY!

Hi, I have contacted iCloud support and one of the senior manager solved the case less than 5 minutes.

There was a longer call with the support staff before, but it was ok, they just have to make sure you know what’s in your drive.

Might be a little late, but I've had this issue last weekend too. Had contact with apple support to and together we where able to fix it.

In my case I supposedly had 38+ gigs documents on my drive, but in reality there was nothing in it. I (obviously) secured all the files I wanted to keep somewhere else, on my iPhone I went to my iCloud settings in system preferences and deleted the whole drive from there and presto! All my space was free again.

My iCloud storage gives 4.89 GB of 5GB used, when I add up the actual storage I find that I have used 1.01 GB. The bar in the icloud window ays 3.95GB used for documents. Where are they, not on the iCloud drive not in the apps.

Is this a set-up to let me buy more storage from Apple????

Probably not, I've had storage issues too.. My fix was to secure everything outside iCloud Drive and then via my iPhone I cleared the drive.

I must say it's a weird way of doing it, the customer service rep also didn't know about this fix. But it did the trick for me.

I too had this issue and found that it was because there is a hidden directory/folder of “recentlay deleted files”in the iCloud. I found this by accessing iCloud in a web browser, clicking on the small “recently deleted files”text bottom right and instructing it to permanently delete all? Did the trick for me.

Called apple care, they reset the storage for me, problem solved.

Took only 3 friendly people and 45 minutes on the phone.

Apparently only senior advisors are allowed te reset and have the knowledfge to do this.

So take your time, keep your calm and ask for a senior.

Just found this thread after searching for a solution to the same issue. I only set up iCloud today. It backed up my iPhone, which I didn't want it to, so I deleted the back-up. When I open the "iCloud Drive" folder in the Finder it says "0 items, 879.7MB available on iCloud" as though the iPhone back-up is still there. If I log in to iCloud on my browser it correctly shows 5GB available. If I look at iCloud in System Preferences it correctly shows 5GB available. I've tried emptying the trash as others have mentioned in this thread, but to no avail.

I was looking for the solution to the problem posted here and your comment actually worked for me. You have to empty the trash and problem solved

Try emptying the Trash.

I can't believe that emptying the trash is the solution, but it is. Doing that freed up 27GB of documents and data, go figure.

That's what it took. Had to push to convince them that there was no way to account for the "used" storage.
