How long did it take to recover your apple id?

It's taken three days so far. I made my iPhone my trusted device. After updating to the latest OS I was required to sign in with my Apple ID. I have forgotten it. Apple sent a code to my phone, which I cannot access. I've asked for ID recovery and it is taking FOREVER. I was wondering how long it has taken other people to recover their accounts. Thank you.

I looked into the suggested solutions before my post. Sadly I'm too simple minded and got confused. The easy solution that worked for me unfortunately requires a macbook:

Click on the apple icon  (on the very top bar) > System preferences > iCloud > click on"Forgot Apple ID or Password"?

Follow the instructions and I got my account back in several seconds.

I am having the same issue. I was using my correct password and they locked me out then told me it will take 3 days or longer to get back with me. This is why I am moving to an Android. I am so sick of Apple's not caring about their customers and then complaining why their revenue is dropping massively. Shocker. Customers are sick of you APPLE!!!! You did this to yourself. #applecustomerservice

Same issue. Forgot my passwor, Apple locked my ID, I went through recovery identification on Tuesday June 6th, received an email on Friday June 9th that they just received a request for recovery which I confirmed and they were supposed to send a recovery key to another number I provided. Yesterday Tuesday 13th called apple again and was told that my account is not even in recovery, so I have to start the process again. This is bad, bad customer service!!!!! Oh and when I called the on June 6th to see if this process could be expedited an agent kept me on hold for 4 minutes just to pull up her stupid policy to read to me that she can't expedite it. Terrible service I have ever encountere.

13 days and still waiting!!! Have followed all of the instructions, called multiple times to support desk, still no response. Very frustrated.... My other daughter's device forces her to change her password every time she logs onto her phone. Have been a long time Apple consumer and am definitely planning on switching devices. Don't have this kind of time or energy to fight with technology. Apple should know better than to drag it's customers through the mud.

I know how you feel, I just called in a little bit ago and spoke to a Senior advisor he pretty much told me I will have to wait for the process to finish. I have verified pretty much every piece of information that is on file even the credit card number and they still say, "oh you have to wait" makes no sense then I say to the big Senior advisor that they should have a team of people handling this type of stuff then he goes on to say well people are the reason why we have security leaks, I come back with well people exploit computers.

I agree with you, I just got off the phone with a Senior Adviser, he agreed with me that they should have a physical team to handle these types of situations. I just with that when someone verifies pretty all of the information the information especially a credit card number and email they should be given instant access to their account or to reset their password.

Yeah this is such BULLSH*T !!!

They would think you were trying to crack into the CIA's main frame........

I had an iPhone 12 months ago which I gave to my daughter back then...and I purchased a cheap prepaid for myself.

As I haven't needed to log into my apple account ( only ever used for downloading apps and using the totally painful and useless iTunes for trying to get music from my laptop to my iPhone 5 ), I couldn't remember my password.

Once before you could simply request a password reset and apple would simply email you a reset link and 5 minutes later you were on your way with a new password......NOT NOW THOUGH !

I requested back on Tuesday he 4th July 2017 and was told that it would be a "few days". Then I received an email on Saturday 8th July 2017 ( 4 days later already ) from apple saying my recovery code will come through to me on 1st August 2017. In case you can't count apple, that's not a few days, that's almost 4 weeks !!!

Now they send a 6 digit pin to a trusted device but what if you no longer have that trusted device or trusted mobile number like me ? Not everyone keep their mobile numbers for ever !

A lot of people update every-time they get a new handset so their mobile number changes regularly........

This crap system where they text a number to your phone or "trusted device" is no good because in my case, and many other peoples, I no longer have that "trusted" mobile phone number.....it was over a year ago so to be sending a "security" reset pin to a "trusted" device that someone else now has as their mobile number is just inadequate !!!

Come on apple.............it's not that high security risk ! We use it to download games and music, not for keeping my home mortgage and blood type records !!!

Get a better system where you can simply request a password reset and it's emailed to you like the good old days ! This 2 step ID identification set up is purely a wank !!! It's not needed !!!

I'm going back to android and will never use apple product again purely because of this **** !!!!
