Songs downloaded through Apple Music will be part of the subscription; you won’t get individually charged for them, but will need to keep paying for the subscription to be able to play them.
Songs downloaded outside of Apple Music need to be paid for normally.

When you downloaded the Albums, did they have a price you clicked on?
If so then, you are using the iTunes Store. Again, for Music from the Apple Music subscription service, it mus be done through the Music App.
On an iOS device, this is the iTunes Store. You don't want to be using this.
This is the Music App, you want to use this to find and download music.
When using iTunes on a computer, you need to be using the Browse and For You sections, not the store.
When using Apple Music through the Music App there will be no prices to tap on, so nothing to charge.
If you are seeing prices, then you are in the wrong section.
How much were you charged?
How do you know it was for the album you downloaded, and not something else?
You can download music from Apple Music. To download music on their device they need to be using the Music app, not the iTunes Store (that lets you buy and keep music ; Apple Music is effectively a rental, end the subscription and you lose access to anything downloaded by it) : Use Apple Music on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Android phone - Apple Support
I just ran across this article in Apple Support. It explains what to do if you're getting charges and can't figure out what they're for. I realize this thread is a bit old but since a lot of people had this question, I thought maybe it will help someone.
For those of you who are being charged to download music, can you please describe the process you are using when you download? Several of us think you may be downloading from the iTunes Store instead of the Music app. If you're sure that's not the case, then please describe your process to download music.
If you don't understand what I'm talking about then please say so, and I or someone else will clarify.
I'm still getting charged for music I download even thou I have the individual subscription. Why is it doing that?
Any advice on how you download from Apple music, versus itunes store? That's what we thought we were doing but we continue to get charged for all the items our kids think they are downloading to their device through our subscription.
Is it just streaming that is free?
I download it thru apple music, which i have a subscription fee every month. I already downgraded my subscription from family to only me due to this condition. I use only Itunes for apps downloading not for music.
How do i differentiate that. I looked up 2 songs under the subscription and got charged for each of them as well as for the monthly fee. These are not songs i wish to collect so would not have paid by choice.
1. Within iTunes, click on "For You" or "Browse."
2. Click on things until you see something you like.
I'm going to pick "What About Us" by Pink.
3. Notice the red + sign to the right of that? I click on it to add the song to my library.
4. Now it will have a cloud next to it. All my devices will show that song as being in my music library. I can stream it for free.
5. If I want it on my device, so I can play it on the subway or when I have no WiFi connection & don't want to use cellular data, I just click on the cloud to download it.
You are using the Music app on your phone to download music ? Or are you using the iTunes Store app ?
You're welcome Synefo, glad it was helpful!
Music app. I downloaded the album from them and charge me after.
Where/how are you downloading the music ? An Apple Music subscription lets you download music from Apple Music, it does not give you free downloads from the iTunes Store
The same thing is happening to me. I have random charges billed to me. Did you ever find out what was going on?
