Input UNC Folder Path

I have a networked HP Color LaserJet Enterprise Flow MFP M577z printer which I manage from my MacBook Pro through the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS). I would like to backup the printer's settings but the option requires the input of a UNC Folder Path (\\path\path) where the printer would save a ZIP file. How could I input a UNC folder path given that the Mac does not use the UNC system?

I've got the same issue if I want to use the Scan to Network Folder feature...the printer requires the input of a UNC path for the folder where the file needs to be saved. 😕

THank you.

Yes the name next to the 'house' symbol is the name of the user home directory and as I mentioned that is the same as the users short name.

The Windows machine is seeing the name of the Mac via a protocol called NetBios, this truncates names of computers compared to what a Mac to Mac link can do and also typically also renders it in uppercase only. So this looks normal.

The command I suggested turns of a new security requirement implemented in El Capitan compared to previous versions of OS X. I know from other discussions on this site that this new security requirement does prevent some devices with older software e.g. HP Printers from being able to connect. The new requirement is to 'sign' all network packets. The command I gave turns this off and makes it behave the same as Yosemite i.e. the version before El Capitan. It might not fix your problem but it is worth trying. Yes turning it off makes it less secure which is why Apple turned it on but it is only changing it back to what it used to be. You can turn it back on again after trying it.

There are issues when trying to connect printers to Macs but as there is no additional settings on the HP unlike some other makes there is nothing else one can do. For example we have Konica-Minolta printers and they do have additional options and one of those helped us.
