SMS messages arrive when you turn the phone on because the carrier saves them. The carrier does not save a list of missed calls to send to the phone.
I understand that, I was just saying it may be something that would not be that difficult to implement. Not saying I want or need, but I just believe it could be something that could feasibly be done in some fashion.
Technologically it is certainly possible. But first you would need to have CTIA or some other standards body publish a protocol specification that the carriers and the phone manufacturers would agree to follow. Under the best of circumstances that would take several years. And would it only work with newer devices, or is there a way to develop a standard that could be retrofitted in software to older devices? Would it be for one manufacturer only, like Visual Voicemail (which was developed without standards by agreement between AT&T and Apple), or would it be available for any manufacturer who agreed to support it? And what would be the demand? Would it sell more phones? I can think of ways to do it, but neither Apple nor the carriers want my opinion.
