How do I block spam calendar invitation emails?

Earlier in this thread, I saw an apparent solution. I opened my iCal, went to File and created a new Calendar, similar to my Home/Work/Birthday Calendars. I named the new Calendar SPAM and ticked it not to show. I then dragged and dropped the offending events from my iCal into the SPAM Calendar. I don't think it stops them coming through, as I think that is an issue Apple have to fix, but it gets rid of them from my personal iCal display.

This is no reasonable answer from Apple, they have been aware of this for months, but have not addressed this issue & from what I can see on the Net, have not accepted that there is a problem...

This is the SAME EXACT calendar invites I've been getting. "$19.99 Ray-ban&Oakley In-Store & Online". I've received two or so in the last couple of weeks.

Feedback for Apple: I really wish they would develop a way to block these spam invites (not just in the calendar, but also in Game Center, and MOST IMPORTANTLY... allow iCloud emails to BLOCK specific senders or spam emails.)

This is poor software design by Apple and 100% Apple's fault. Just to be clear, Apple is at fault and Apple is the cause for all spam appearing in calendar events. To allow any spammer to fill calendar events should have never been implemented in the first place. When a calendar event is received and the software does not allow a delete but instead require a response such as declined, that is EXTREMELY bad software design. Anybody who does not think this is poor software design obviously has not received spam calendar events. I am hopeful for the setting described by some people, where we go into the settings and set the events to be received in mail instead of calendar. I don't know if any Apple employee reads these posts, but it would be great if some did and took ownership of their problem.

I woke up to this same problem today, I have no computer around so I can't have the ads sent to my email in order to block them, I deleted three then got this one from am44@qq11.top a few hours later and realized I have to do more than just delete them but I can't seem to be able to block people directly from my calendar. I can also see all the random email addresses that have not "replied" to this "invite".

When using the Calendar app from my Mac, I get the message:

Are you sure you want to decline this event?

If you decline this event, the originator will be notified. You can view declined events by choosing Show Declined Events from the View menu. You can’t undo this action.

Which means I can't delete without actually declining.... :-(

Where do you find block contact? I don't have that option in my contacts. Are you on your phone or computer? I don't see a place to block contact. If I select edit it only allows me to delete contact.

Hi all, so after much testing here is what has worked for me...

1. I first went to preferences in iCal on web based iCloud and checked the box saying to email calendar requests.

2. I started out with the pending invite still in my calendar.

3. I did as others suggested and set up a new diary entitled Spam and although I couldn't change the calendar in the spam invite via iCloud on a web browser, I could change it to the spam calendar on my phone (iOS 10.0.2).

3. I then went back to web browser and deleted the spam diary and the invite (greyed out appointment) disappeared.

4. A couple of hours later, I then got a spam invite in my email inbox and marked it as junk and hoorah! It didn't go into my calendar.

I believe Drew's advice is if you log onto iCloud from the internet. I followed his instructions after going to icloud.com and was able to get to where I needed following his advice. But you are right as one version or method of doing the same thing has different steps depending on what platform or OS you are using.

I too started to receive these calendar invites today with the Rayban offering. Apparently this is something which has just recently started and my twitter feed has a lot of mentions about it too. Jim Dalrymple the blogger, podcaster and ex-Apple chap posted a link to this post which I hope is a clarification and solution for all.

This just started happening to me for the first time. Why is this just now happening after years of no spam. I never even knew spammers could access my calendar anyway. Is there no place safe from them? They are already clogging my phone calls and emails and comment sections on websites I manage!!

How do they even send these things? Are they sending it to some email address that got on a spam list? I looked at my Calendar and the Ray Ban crap was just on one called "Work" which I never use, so I just deleted the whole thing. Maybe that one was imported from my Yahoo ID that I also never use, but gets spam sometime. Hopefully, no more will show up.

I think I have found a way to block the email address associated with the spam invite. I too like some of you declined the invite before realizing that wasn't the best thing to do. The below steps are what I did to, hopefully, block the email address. I was on my iphone using 10.1.1.

1. Select and copy the address from the invite

2. Create new contact, name it what you want, I named mine rayban spam

3. Add the spam email address to your new contact. Select done

4. Select the phone icon as if you are going to make a call

5. That brings up the contact list

6. Select the new spam contact

7. Scroll to the bottom and click block caller

8. Confirm block caller

I cannot confirm this actually works on email addresses or if it only blocks phone numbers. I guess I will find out since they now know my email address is a live address. But I agree with many of you that having no way of deleting the invite without acknowledging the invite is an oversight on Apple.

Yes today an invite to an event has appeared in my calendar , it's everyday for a week, the only option is accept maybe decline. Each one will acknowledge I have had it.

How can a person unknown to me add an entry in my calendar.

How can I remove that entry

It is on my iCloud email and the list of other invitees are iCloud too .

I don't want to leave this on my phone!!!

I believe I have the answer. This has been happening to me also lately. And if you go to settings>calendar>events found in apps> TURN THIS OFF.

It says turning this off will delete any unconfirmed events from appearing in your calendar.

Do not accept or decline - this will encourage more invitations

On your computer create a new calendar

Move the event to the new calendar

Delete the calendar, choosing the option 'do not notify'

Then deselect the 'found in apps calendar' tick box in general calendar settings
