How well does Pokemon Go work on an iPhone 4s?

My daughter wants to play Pokemon Go but doesn't have her own phone yet. I'm considering re-activating my old iphone 4s for her. I see that it is compatible with iOS9 so, so far so good. But what about other issues that might effect performance -- memory, battery life, etc. is anyone using a 4s for PoGo with adequate results?

iPhone 4, iOS 9, 4s

It requires an iPhone 5 or newer.

My son was running PKG on his iPhone 4s too in combination with iOS9, but it always crashes. I only works with Wifi while mobile internet is disabled. I would recommend to use a Samsung or iPhone5+. It's very annoying and will only cause frustration.

Some tweaks (disable background refresh, turn airplane mode on and off during startup) might increase stability slightly, but are no real solution as it will remain sluggish. I wouldn't even bother.

Dang it - I wish I looked here first before spending half the day yesterday reactivating my old 4s, thinking, oh, it works on iOS9... sure! However, PG app does NOT work on the 4s very well at all. It will download and it will open (after a while) and then, it just lags and lags and lags... then suddenly crashes. Oh well. Lesson learned the hard way... looking for an old 5 now because it's better than my son running around the neighborhood with my newer 6+!
