I removed the keyboard and noticed that the connecting edge was not straight, and the portion with the pins was slightly lower than the lower than the rest of the edge. Just flexed it a smidge to raise the pins and problem is solved!

So To provide additional feedback. Went to the Apple store for them to look into my ASK issue 09/8/19. I was told that there is a quality program for the 9.7 and 12 inch models of the ASK but not the 10.5. So I can pay the price of a brand new keyboard for a replacement which is ridiculous, cause you can just buy a new one, or suffer through the lack of support on my 10.5. To further enjoy the slap in the face for lack of a quality program, Apple just announced a 10.2 IPad. Thanks for your support Team Apple.

The solution listed here is not viable. I’ve had this keyboard for nearly two years and it has been fine until recently. It recently began intermittently not working several dozens of times per day. I also get the “accessory is not supported” error message. It is not logical to have to do a cold reboot several dozens of times per day.

I tried this - even reset it back to factory. Now, instead of silently draining my battery, my iPad makes this frequent sound, like "Bit" in the original Tron, saying, "No! No! No! No! No!" over and over again. I think I will simply stuff the keyboard in to an envelope (or, very likely, the original packaging, which may be in my closet) and send it back to Apple, c/o Tim Cook. Maybe, if they receive enough of these, they'll get the message.

As a side note: I had the iPad docked in the keyboard while it was making this sound. I placed an AA battery behind the iPad, to change the position of the iPad slightly. This did stop the noise. Keyboard still didn't work.

I’m also experiencing this problem the last few weeks after updating my IPad Pro. Now, the keyboard intermittently not working, and a message pops up saying that “the accessory is not compatible”. Seriously? I’ve purchased this keyboard at Apple store when I purchased my IPad Pro 12.9”, and it’s been working all this time until now. Apple please fix your bug!
