I removed the keyboard and noticed that the connecting edge was not straight, and the portion with the pins was slightly lower than the lower than the rest of the edge. Just flexed it a smidge to raise the pins and problem is solved!

Completed iOS 13.6 update and immediately after said iPad does not support accessories -iPad pro charger that came with iPad and apple iPad keyboard. Have restarted 102 times in past week -keyboard works for between 28 seconds and 2 min 12sec before needing restart so would need an minimum of 720 restarts a day. No issues prior to iOS13.6. How do I remove the defective software from my iPad Pro and how long until apple fix the failed update?

Per usual, all of the recommended steps to resolve do nothing to help. Keyboard just stopped working intermittently all of the sudden. Now, not at all. Seems that those who suggest tech companies program kill features into their devices to force consumers to buy new stuff seem to be right. I’m having the same problem with two inkjet computers, one new and one just a couple of years old. With Apple’s market cap, it’s disappointing that Apple is going junk. But hey, they did the same thing with batteries. It’s okay - back to my Surface Pro.

Brilliant YouTube thanks. So now we know, it’s poor design. I’m not quite as handy as you Comeinhandy and won’t be attempting that fix.

Like all Apple kit this keyboard was not cheap. How do we get out money back?

I spoke to the local Apple shop. They suggested I buy a non Apple keyboard. No help on the failed keyboard, suggested I contact Apple directly.

This is very poor performance by Apple. How can they expect anyone to buy their new pro with the even more expensive keyboard if they won’t stand behind their product?

It sounds like you have never owned an iPad Pro. It makes a brilliant device for reviewing and marking up documents, whether it is a pdf, or word or excel document. Use the Apple Pencil and it is perfect for mark ups and drawing. I have been a great fan of Microsoft, decades ago! Never again, I now use an iPad Pro and a MacBook Pro. The MacBook makes a better Microsoft PC than Microsoft does, running windows10 in a virtualBox window that I can turn on and off instantly.

The ergonomics and quality of apple products outshines every non apple PC types that I have previously owned, and I've owned a lot. Time to move on and see the light and BTW I don't work for Apple!

Apple refuses to fix mine or even give me a date for tech support, and it’s obvious it’s a design failure from Apple and it didn’t last 2 years before failing with such messages, and now it’s completely useless, iPad Pro 12.9” 2nd Gen.

Contacts are in perfect state as it has always been in write position over my desk, folding just once in a month or so.

This post is constructive as it shows the other users what happened to me.

Ok, I see Apple you don’t agree with me in Class-action Lawsuit. Post deleted/moderated. Ok. Forget about the Class-action Lawsuit. I was not the first user to use that statement.

Hi everyone.

So can I ask, has there actually been a work around for this problem?

I traveled down to the apple store yesterday to get it fixed. They fiddled with it for a while and said that was all they can do.

They changed the keyboard over to test my iPad Pro 2gen to see if it was the Smart Keyboard and of course it worked ok, as it does for a while then stops.

My iPad too was skipping letters and didn’t always type properly and you had to hit the keys harder, which was weird, but it was again working fine in the store, sigh.

Amyway, I still don’t know if it’s the keyboard or the iPad that’s the problem.

If it’s keyboard (and ill use my iPad without keyboard for a few days to test it) then should I fork out for a new one or buy a generic? If generic which brand do you recommend?

thanks.

I got the impression they aren’t going to fix it. It only stated after the latest update. I’m going to get into using it today in my course work. Then do as Allan suggested and get a Bluetooth keyboard.

mum really shocked at Apple I’ve used Apple for over 30 years and they have always been phenomenal.

they said they will call me back tomorrow on a follow up call, you don’t get that from a PC company!

thanks all.

Not only they won't fix it but where I come from the keyboard is no longer sold. Failed product and no responsibility. I have also used Apple for about 15 years and bought many many devices. Slowly taking them out. For example they no longer support sell Airport so have gone to third party mesh product. I am also using MS Onedrive for a number of reasons.

Apple has not done the right thing with this product.

Same issue here. I brought it to the Apple store and they told me “Yes, we sold you a keyboard for $160 and it abruptly stopped working after a couple of years with no fault of yours. The solution that we propose to you is that you buy another one.” This is just outrageous. The genius told me that this is a very common and well known issue, these keyboards, despite being ridiculously expensive, don’t last, and the company has decided to do nothing about it. I really think that they should do a replacement program like they had to do for the laptop keyboards.
