I respect your opinion, but I disagree. The ipad pro is faster for video processing than all of my PCs and laptops so far, so yes it can be a laptop replacement as it is for me. It’s because it has hardware MP4 compression/decompression and fast CPU/GPUs. The free ‘office’ replacements that I use of ‘pages’ and ‘numbers’ (word and excel replacements) are better and faster for me and sync and work across all of my platforms (iphone, mac, ipad, and easy sharing/coops). The ipad does support multi (two) windows, which is good enough most of the time with multi additonal screens a swipe away in the background.
The point about apps having there own file directories is actually an advantage as it is much more secure and you don’t need to have power hungry virus checkers running all the time checking for 1000’s of virus’s that may infiltrate across all of your files. There are also slightly better file handling apps like ‘filebrowser’ but most files are stored in the cloud nowadays anyhow so local directory access is of limited use.
The ipad pro is awesome, for me. Fast, touch screen, with pen, keyboard. Yes the smart keyboard has a longevity issue. You can use bluetooth cheap ones, but those are poorer quality often in my experience (I’ve tried 3 of them).
So, yes I wish the keyboard lasted longer, but it was awesome for 2 years!
Lidar will be useful for AR, augmented reality use, room scanning/measuring/floorplanning. It’s choice. If you don’t want it buy the cheaper ipads.
