iPad Pro is intermittently non reponsive to the IPad Pro Smart Keyboard.
Tyopical occurs when attempting to enter text in address field of the mail app
when the mail app has been opened by Safari to mail a link etc
I‘m typing this on the touch screen with my index fingers so pardon me if you have too read this as slow as I am typing very slowly.
I‘m considering a conspiracy theory right now. Could it be possible that Apple wants us to get use to using the iPad without the attacher keyboard? After all, that has been their modus operandi... for example...
I think this is their way of telling us that we need to use the iPad as a tablet and get use to the idea that is is not a laptop.
Could this be a harbenger of things to come?
WHY HAS THERE BEEN NO OFFICAL ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THIS ANNOYING PROBLEM?
I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER IPad Pro UNLESS THIS PROBLEM IS FIXED ASAP.
I was considering ordering an iPad lab pac of 32 stations for my media classes, but that idea is on hold.
Windows and Android are looking better every day!
Thanks for the tip Jay. Tried it and it did not work. This problem appears to be related to updates and it is very inconvenient as I never know when the keyboard is going to work. Thanks again.
Apple inc. refuses to take ownership of their glitchy hardware. Why?
My first Smart Keyboard failed completely. Took it to an Apple store and they replaced it. I did have AppleCare.
I had the same problem. I fixed it by simply resetting my iPad settings.
Hi, 4 years now and the issues has still not being resolved, yes there has being a new release of iPad Pro’s but the problem still keeps occurring

An update. I started using the Apple Camera Adapter to read a USB key and would you believe it my keyboard started to work. So I am now fairly certain that in my case this is a software issue.
Most of the problems are hardware related to increasing resistance in the contacts. It intermittent, so may come and go. See how it goes in your case. It may disconnect again soon.
Go to settings and delete any Bluetooth keyboard that is paired to the iPad, and then voila! Your smart keyboard will start working again.
The problems (and solutions) are many and varied. The camera adaptor trick `I mentioned above seems to bring mine back to life.
I just wish Apple would show some interest in this problem.

I can't get the iPad Pro (3rd edition, 2018) to recognize the brand new Magic Keyboard.
Smart Keyboard iPad Pro (older versions) are failed product, should be replaced by Apple for free!
