iOS 9.3.3 broke iBooks store on iPad

After the 9.3.3 iOS update (7/19/2016), the iBooks store will not open on my iPad Pro 9.7, nor will it open on my iPad Mini 4. My books works fine, just the Featured, Top Charts, etc. will not open. iBooks works fine on my iPhone 6S and iMac.

  • Try a forced restart: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the restart.

This worked for me (iPhone 6 iOS 9.3.3) - BUT with one or two additional steps: The books only appeared after switching from list view to grid view and back. Suddenly all books reappeare. Before that, I to the "Purchased" section (where I could see all books with a cloud icon) and downloaded a book. Before I switched between list view and grid view, I could open the downloaded book from the "Purchased" section, but didn't see in in the "My Books" tab. However, after switching the view, all books, either in the cloud or downloaded, reappeared.
