Restoring Iphone 6 Plus in DFU mode

Ok, guys, this is my first post so here it goes with my questions.

I have an Iphone 6 Plus that I got last September. It was working great until recently. While on my dock, the phone slipped out of my hand and into the water, I jumped in and grabbed it before it could hit the bottom. I went to the surface and took off my Otterbox. It had water on it and supposedly in it. So I went to the house and put it in rice, later that night I tried to get it to turn on, it would not. I tried to force restart it and plugged it in to see if it would show anything and it did nothing. So I left it in the rice and went to Verizon, they said that another store that is closed had a dehydrator. The next day, I went and they dehydrated my phone. When we went back they said that it was showing the Apple Logo but they took it out too early and so they tried again. The second time we went in they told us that they got most of the water out but the phone would power cycle when it was plugged in. So, the next day I read online how to restore a phone that is power cycling (Apple screen comes up for 4 seconds, goes black, repeat process). They said to try putting your phone in DFU mode and connecting it to Itunes and restoring the phone. So I did, while it is plugged in, I press and hold the home and power button and then release the power button and keep holding the home button. Itunes tells me that there is an Iphone in recovery mode that needs to be restored and after the software download it starts to go to work. It starts extracting the software and then begins to wait for the Iphone. Well here is where it gets weird. Whenever it goes to that stage of waiting for the Iphone, the computer tells me that the phone has disconnected. Then after 3 minutes of sitting there waiting for the Iphone, it gives me an error message with error code 4005.

Is there a way for me to be able to save this Iphone without having to get another one? Is it not working because it has been disconnected? Should I try something else?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sorry. Check the indicator and if damaged not much you can do. FWIW below are the steps for Recovery Mode. I will likely not help but who knows.... might be possible to power long enough to recover some data.

Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes.

While your device is connected, force restart it: Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, and don't release when you see the Apple logo.

Keep holding until you see the recovery mode screen and wait for it to restore.

You may have to do the above more than once as recovery mode is difficult to get into.

Restore as New first and test it. Then restore from backup if desired. If the backup is corrupted it will likely bring back the issue.

This support document discusses the error code 4005 that you report. If you see error 9, 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you restore your iOS device - Apple Support

The first problem you encountered was when you attempted to power the device back on after only a short period of time. Any attempts to power a wet device on just puts current in areas there shouldn't be because of the water. As elcpu said, most of these devices will not recover. Hopefully, you can have a current backup that you can restore a replacement to. I would just take it to Apple and purchase an out of warranty replacement.

Even if it does work, you still owe money to Verizon. Don't they require insurance or Apple Care Plus when you use their payment plan? In that case, you could still get a replacement. Are you using a credit card for this payment plan? If so, see if they cover damages? There are options, but either way, you entered into a contract to pay for the device, and you will be on the line for that amount no matter what you do. But, you need a working phone, so you are going to have to do something.
