Getting iWork '09 on Yosemite

I have iWork '09 running on my MBP with 10.10. However, I am unable to get '09 on my MP 5,1 running 10.9.5 (13F1911) because I did not get the patch that enables iWork '09 to function on 10.10. I purchased '09 on a DVD and Apple has quit supporting the old iWork. Since I didn't get my '09 from the App store i can't get the patch. I guess I did get the patch on my MBP because it works. Is there anyway I can get iWork '09 to work on Yosemite on my MP?

I was really bummed out at the way Apple dumbed down iWork for the new version in order to make it compatible with iOS. I don't have any desire to use iWork on my iOS but do depend on the features they left out. iWork is so much easier to use than MSW and has almost every thing I need.

Thanks MichelPM and VikingOSX. I updated the iWork on my MP 10.9. I was in the process of doing a clean install of 10.10 on a 2nd drive but was unable to install iWork due to a message that said it was not compatible with that system. I was avoiding doing a migration but I guess that's the only way I can get iWork '09 on the 10.10 drive. Any suggestions? Will the updated iWork '09 work on 10.11?

Is the version on your MBP a retail boxed version updated or a the version from the Mac App Store because for some reason, the Mac App Store version is different in installation from the boxed install disc version.

Plus, all of the support page updates are for the boxed version of iWorks.

It's the same sort of issues with install differences with Apple Aperture downloaded from the Mac App Store and installing Aperture and all of its updates from the initial boxed set of discs.

Plus, I seriously doubt iWork '09 will work with OS X10.11 El Capitán as there is an updated version that is currently compatible with El Cap.

You maybe asking for the impossible.

You may have to save two copies of each document you work with so you have a copy compatible with iWork '09 and one you can use with updated versions of the iWorks apps.

Both are the boxed version. I don't need two copies since I only use the older (better - unless iOS compatibility is important). I found the newer "improved" version of Pages to be woefully inadequate for my use. They stripped out several tools that I depend upon. So until they bring the new version up to the capability of the old version, at least in the features that are important to me I am stuck at 10.9 or 10.10. When I compared the two versions a year or two ago there were several new features that were nice. Unfortunately, the ones they left out were are far more important to me.

Yeah,

This is exactly why I have pretty much stayed with Apple's older Apps and ecosystem, too!

Completely understand this!

I am at a loss, however, about how you were able to get iWork '09 to work on one Mac running Yosemite, but not the other on Yosemite.

I am at a loss for any explanation or solution to your issue, at this point.

It might be an issue with hardware? Don't know.

Since the MBP has only one drive I just did the update to Yosemite and didn't have to do a clean install of Pages. I'm going to try a migration now that I am certain that my Pages is up to date. Maybe it was. I don't know. I was hoping for a clean install of all of my software. Actually, the MBP is my wife's and I think she did the update to 10.10 when the popup said there are updates to install.
