Artist Photos Missing in iTunes 12.5.1
I've noticed a few artist photos are missing since upgrading to 12.5.1. Any ideas on how to fix or refresh? They are mainstream artists, nothing obscure.

I may have found a possible solution (well it worked for some of my missing artist photos in iTunes). I noticed that some of the artists with missing photos had an extra space after their name in iTunes.
So if you go into iTunes -
go to 'artists' under 'library' on the main page -
right click on an artist with a missing photo -
click 'artist info' -
look in the 'album artist' field -
see if there's an extra space at the end of their name -
if so, remove it and click 'ok'.
This has worked for me for most of the mainstream artists in my library, so has got rid of a fair number of those ugly microphone images.
Another point I've noticed is that changing the artist name slightly can determine whether iTunes will display a photo or not. For example 'The Bee Gees' in my library had a no photo even after removing the space. As this is a very mainstream artist, I thought to change the name album artist name to 'Bee Gees' and it worked bringing up an artist photo.
Good luck!
Apple, fix this, please!
Sure? Maybe but it does not explain it really.
I'm inclined to agree that most artist images are useless for the task of visually identifying the artist from the image rather than the text. If the feature is going to be there users ought to get an option to choose the image, or at the very least switch to a representative album cover.

ITunes looks good until this update. Apple has taken a very bad decisions in relation to the covers and album's backgrounds. Instead of facilitating management my music, they start to make it difficult...
This NEEDS to be fixed ASAP!. I just saw my library and I have shocked!!
this is horrible. So ugly, so not useful. What on earth do Apple employees do that they think is remotely a good idea. I wish i hadn't updated. Now I will have the hassle of seeing how to downgrade iTunes.
Downgrade instructions here, but if you've updated any devices to iOS 10 then I wouldn't advise it.

This has been a bugbear on iOS for several years for me.
I really dislike obscure promotional photos being used as I often have no idea visually who a group is!
Absolutely shocking update to iTunes. I like many others have spent many hours carefully tagging and honing my digital collection to appear as I want it to. I loved the way iTunes used to display the artist pics but now I am stuck with the stupid Microphone for nearly all my artists on Macbook, iPhone and iPad. The only things that seem to work correctly are the playlist views so if they can get it right for those then there is absolutely NO excuse for not applying the same logic to the Artists view as well. Come on Apple, you are so much better than this!
Wait till they remove the star rating system. That will be the next devastating omission. How much time did we spend rating all of our songs? It's extremely useful... but judging from iOS 10, it will be soon replaced by a dumbed down Like or Dislike. So mad they removed that from iOS Music app.
I don't mind not having the star rating in mobile, since it's not as easy to see them. But yes, it would be a shame to lose that feature in iTunes.
Exactly the same issue with me - seems to only show iTunes purchased artist thumbnails. I hope that this is just an oversight and not another move by Apple to get users to move over to streaming only...
For me the same thing. iPad same amount as iTunes.
