I updated my iPad Pro 9.7 and iPhone 6s and both devices now request to connect to iTunes. Once connected, I get a message that an error has occurred and that a restore is necessary. It reverts back to iOS 9.3.5
This is the first time this happens.
What is doing on?
iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 10, null

If you haven't updaetd iTunes to 12.5.1 then it'll only offer to restore devices to 9.3.5 If you then try and update iTunes from within iTunes it hits the overloaded servers so the quick workround is to download fresh copy of iTunes from the Apple website and install. It then offers a restore to iOS 10.0.1.

Same Issue with my mothers iPhone. Goes right into recovery mode. Updated iPhone 6s Plus via OTA.
My phone (iPhone 6) also did an update via OTA and it worked fine. I am reading about a lot of glitches online right now.
I downloaded iTunes on my Windows 10 PC. Plugged in iPhone and am getting "An unknown error occurred (-39)"

once you plug it into iTunes and let it sit you will be fine. It keeps asking me to install iOS 10 but I am going to wait

seems to be that itunes try to update your iphone even if not yet downloaded the file... ignore it.
Did you check for the latest version of itunes (12.5.1) before. I got that error when it wasn't updated and it only wanted me to to go ios 9.3.5. After updating to the latest itunes it let me update my devices, two iPhones and an iPad Pro.
Some update.
Update your iTunes to 12.5.1. Then connect your device to PC or Mac and press update button.
My device has now iOS 10 and all data was saved🙂
this update is a joke and is ridiculous. tried to get ios 10 at 9:59 and it updates and then crashes now its stcuk in dfu mode in a loop where i put it on my itunes like it wants me to. now it just updates for a second and then tells me it cant do it due to an error like really apple? you really didnt expect people to download this? you really thought this wouldnt happen apple? im about to drop apple in a heartbeat

dont worry. ignore it. itunes is messed up.
let it download the file and install it then. just click update.
