iOS 10 Mail delete all function?

We waited God knows how long for the Delete All function to be introduced and when it was I almost cheered! Now the dozy son of ******* have removed about the most useful function for keeping your inbox manageable there was!!! And that without a by your leave..! OK so there is a convoluted workaround, but no-one has answered the question as to Why it was removed.. What dimwit did it? WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY WHY!!!!!!!!!?

It appears the convoluted workaround can make messages disappear without actually deleting them, so they can never be deleted; read this thread thoroughly if you haven't noticed this documented. Further, the "workaround" is almost impossible to accomplish for anyone with the use of only one hand. I hope Apple wakes up and fixes this bungle super quickly. (It should have already been fixed, but, well....)

So that's what happened to me! I succeded in deleting all messages, but Mail is still occupying 1,2 Gb of memory. Do I need to reset all to zero and reinstall everything from a backup?

I don't know how your mail setup is configured, so I'm in no position to recommend anything radical—especially when there's a possibility of data loss. I'm an IT professional, and you need to work with someone like me in this situation, but I doubt Apple would approve of using their forum for a consulting engagement. It's important that you find someone knowledgeable to help you with this issue, since I assume you don't wish to lose all of your email. Don't turn a frustrating situation into a catastrophe.

Thanks for your help, Brian. I don't care loosing my emails on the iphone, I got them in my computer. So I think I will reset all. Frustrating, but the only solution I guess.

Anyway, Steve Jobs will have let them shovel salt in a mine...

I ended up doing the only thing that works (and I'm a very experienced IT professional).

I deleted my e-mail accounts from my iPhone and have gone back to using MS Outlook on my PC. Apple just doesn't care about their products' usability - next time, I'm going with Android

Release 9 worked beatutifully. DELETE ALL.

The new kluge is equal to the IOS 8 kluge.

Bring back DELETE ALL.

The DELETE All works on the Trash Folder. It does not appear for the inbox.

The Move kluge to the Trash folder is required. Then do the delete all.

Amazing, thank you. I wonder how you even worked that out, but it worked for me. Prior to IOS9 I used to delete the entire email account as a workaround to deleting all email, but in IOS 10 the email comes back again after setting up the account. I do not know why they had to take this feature away

I think that workaround may cause other mailbox issues. I suspect this doesn't actually moves the mail to the trash.

IT worked for me on the phone 6 hours ago, so far no problems that im aware of

I just find even faster way how to delete all emails from desired account.

Just go to Settings->Contacts->Accounts->(Desired acc)->Mail - Just uncheck it and all emails for this acc will disappear.

After that just check the Mail again.

You mean turn off the mail for that account? It's sitting on the server. As soon as you turn it back on it will resync. Clearly you have no clue what your talking about.
