IOS 10 and contact custom ringtones

Same problem! In iTunes, you can play the ringtone files only. Cannot transfer them to the phone. I believe the mapping of all ringtones have gone, and believe that there is not a fix, because no mapping can be recovered anymore. My Apple! It never happens before in Steve's era! Pity!

Today i´ve tried to send a message to my wife, (which contact is one of these contacts, that ist related to this bug) by using "hey Siri command". Siri founds 3 numbers and asked me, what number i want to use. In Contact-App is only one phone number in this specific Contact shown and saved.

Can someone try to send a message or make a call thru Siri command and look if there are also 2 or more phone numbers to choose?

Possible the ringtone-problem exist because there are more than one identical contacts (but only shown 1 in contact app).

Thanks for your reply. Siri had found my contact for sure but i have to choose one of 3 possible numbers but it is only one number saved in contacts. So i thought i would be possible that this causes the bug. In the meantime i´ve restored my iPhone ans Setup as new, only with contact-sync thru iCloud and sync only the ringtones thru itunes. Problem still persist. Now is restore again and setup with my backup.

Now i´ve tried everything that´s possible for me, now it is Apples´s turn.

I tried disabling whatsapp access to contacts and deleting whatsapp number from contacts, but it didn't work.

Not sure what to try next.

Has anyone got any real answer from apple support?

I got 2 times contacted if it is solved in several public Betas, i said NO, till then NO feedback.

I believe it's a bug that cannot be recovered, that's why Apple no reply! 😮

My report to apple:

1. Personal ring tone cannot sync to phone

2. because of 1, of course no personal ringtone can be mapped

3. Follow up issue is that even though apple solves the issue in next release, I believe my personal ringtone even can sync to the phone, the previous mappings are lost, am I right? Please confirm!

A User from another site had the same problem & spoke with Apple support & apple has blocked custom tones bc of licensing issues. Ringtone apps no longer work either.

My custom ringtones (some I made, some I got from Zedge years ago on an Android phone) work just fine. Whoever posted that was either misinformed, misunderstood the answer or made it up.

BUt when you assign an other INTERBAL ringtone fron Apple to a contact, also the GENERIC is olayed.

i’m running iOS 10.0.2 in 6s plus and you can guess .. having the same problem here in fin .. unable to use custom ringtones or vibrations to contact, only what you have set up to be default sound or vibe is working .. have done and tested almost everything and tried different kind of solutions in every possible way and no luck .. only when you downgrade your ios back to 9.3.5 those issues go away .. these are “cosmetic” issues and not preventing to use iOS 10, but still, i’ve paid good many for these products assuming that even the “not so important” features are working as they should
