Turn off voice control iOS 10

I can't seem to find how to turn off voice control when I hold down the home button. It is annoying when it pops up when trying to take screen shots. I hate it.

"is to turn it on and leave my thumb on the Home key". I think you're making an assumption about how people turn on (I would say wake up) the device. I use the home button to wake it up. If you do use the home button to wake up the device with Siri switched off, the problem is most acute.

It's definitely much more of a problem with Siri OFF. Apologies in advance for the use of CAPS and for expressing my opinion. I see sarcasm is allowed though (reference your reply regarding jailbreaking).

I agree no-one should jailbreak their device, particularly over something like this. I would urge everyone to post some feedback as advised also. I would also urge everyone to post their experience on this thread and keep this issue in the public domain.

As I stated in an earlier post, I'm interested in the rationale behind the design decision to prevent users switching off Siri and Voice Control. It remains a mystery and is clearly something that is riling users.

It is a major irritating problem and just needs to be sorted! I don;t use Siri or Voice Control and should be able to disable both --especially as Voice Control makes noises when you are using the phone in a silent environment. Any clues?

As has been noted in this thread, repeatedly, you can't turn both of them off. If you turn Siri off, you turn Voice Control on. As also noted, you will generally have better results if you leave Siri on but disable it on the lock screen. And, once again, you can submit your feedback to Apple requesting something different here:

Well, you won't be getting any answers here to that question. We are users just like you, and the TOU of this forum prohibit us from speculating about what Apple does or why they do it.

The only assumption I am making is that most people turn on their device by pressing the Home key (which should have been inferred by "leave it on the Home Button". However, as Meg has said in this thread already, you can turn on Siri, turn off "Access on Lock Screen" in Settings>Siri, and you will not be bothered by that particular issue again. Resting your thumb on the Home Button (or whatever finger you use for Touch ID), will open the device after you have turned it on. Usually almost immediately.

Cheers,
