IOS 10 mail puts messages threads in seemingly random order

Since the IOS 10 Update email message threads on my iPhone 6+ are in a really weird order. There seems to be no real order to how the messages are displayed once you click on the thread.

The first message in the thread seems to be randomly placed under some of the replies, and occasionally the entire thread will be under one of the replies as if the message breaks were not detected.

I have Enabled the "Most Recent Messages on Top" setting which has meant the last message and your entry point to the thread is at the top (rather than in the middle with this setting disabled), but the message order still has the above quirks.

The issue is the same in my Office 365 mailbox and Hotmail.

From an article I found on CNet

"You can tap that blue-arrow button to view the subject lines of all the emails in a thread without leaving the main view of your inbox. It's a convenient way to locate a specific email in a thread. The messages in this expanded view are ordered so that the most recent message is at the top."

The double blue arrow pointing to the right located to the right of the date will drop down the list of related emails. Then you can click into just the one you want.

Also sometimes if you swipe the message to the left and click more you can click show related messages and it brings you to another screen with the list of messages. However this doesn't seem to consistently work for me and I can't figure out why it works sometimes and why it doesn't. My best guess is I think either all of the messages in the thread either have to be read or unread for this 2nd option to work.

The first option though definitely works thank goodness
