iOS 10 home screen wallpaper dimming

After upgrading my iPhone to iOS 10 i noticed the dimming of home screen wallpaper. Please refer to the attached pictures - it is clearly visible that home screen wallpaper is darker than lock screen wallpaper despite of the fact it is the same picture. Even in the wallpaper settings it is shown as darkened. I find it quite annoying but i didn't find any settings related to this darkening. I would appreciate any kind of advice how to get off from this dimming. There is also a thread on reddit with the same complain: https://www.reddit.com/r/iOSBeta/comments/4sb289/bug_why_does_ios_10_darken_my_w allpaper_it_should/

I use iPhone 5S with iOS 10.0.1

i have been dealing with this dumb 'feature' since ios7. It's a poor design decision and it's not what people want. As if Apple isnt clever enough to figure something else out for keeping text clear and viewable. Apple doesnt care about this issue and won't be answering our requests to have an option to toggle it off. 55 of my 60 wallpapers look drab and overcast. They are ruined by this effect and it's pointless to even use wallpapers on my iPhone anymore. People have been requesting this be addressed since ios7. I don't care about depth and making my icons pop out. I want my wallpapers to look as they were intended to look. Obviously many other people feel the same because there have been several posts about this over the past couple years. The only thing you can do is make a suggestion to Apple, which they won't listen to, and the design team certainly doesnt come here to the forums. They do what they want whether the customer likes it or not. I mean, how hard would it be to put a simple toggle in to turn it off? We just have to deal with it. Wallpapers on any other brand of phone look better than my spanking new iPhone 7 Plus. Very disappointing indeed.

Absolutely. This issue has not been fixed and it is a major design flaw within iOS. This should be a personal choice in display settings and never a native unchangeable setting . It destroys the integrity of the photography and art we love so much which is why we wanted an iPhone in the first place ! Apple if you're watching please get this issue resolved.

I wish Apple cared about their customers enough to simply listen to our complaints. The dim homescreen looks horrible. Apple, please PLEASE for the love of god stop making poor design decisions. It seems like they need to clean house in that department. The current design team's mission seems to be "just how unaestheticly pleasing can we make this".

It literally takes a gorgeous photo and makes it look bad. It is incredible that this passed the test to be included . This type of thing seems small but this is exactly why people will jump ship when something better comes along. It is our decision how we want our wallpaper to look and to make a program that goes against making a photo look good is ludicrous. What kind of unintelligence thinks like this?
