After Updating to iOS 10, contacts have disappeared

one step you will find your contact number you are searching for slide to right from your search bar write your contact name will show the number you're searching for in all Application (contact's,WhatsApp, iMessage ...etc)

i lost all my contacts on my iphone4s

i never used icloud, cuz my contacts are private,

i storred them all on my iphone4s

i never intednt to have any contact to icloud or i do want this so all settings and stupid bugfixes for icloude dont work...

problem happend after the last ios update...

funny fact even if i told my iphone to store them on sim, the sim also is completly empty... ***

I have exactly the same problem. Reset the phone 3 times. it comes back initially after the reset but upon usage for a day or its the same problem again. Tried other method to restart using power and Vol keys in Iphone 7 , initially it works but gain back to square one . Apple please provide a solution to this asap as its very much irritating now

that only works if u stored ur contacts in the cloud....

my contacts should stored on the sim, but the sim is empty to...

ok looks like i found it...

after i deactivate icloud all my contacts came back....

now i ask myself for how long....

Correct Solution is:

Go to Contacts. Upper Left hand corner, tap "Groups". You may have more than one account apart from your iCloud account, like Gmail. In this case, it might be that only one account is checked so just check all accounts including your iCloud account & WALA.

nope.. that solution is not correct cause i did that like 100 of tiemes and my adress book is still not showing contacts even with the latest update from appel.

Hello I try iCloud contact turn off and turn on but it didn't work I try reset hold power and home at the same time it work for short time then when I search contact didn't work I think 10.0.1 don't work apple need to fix it

Nope. It's an iOS 10 bug. I experienced that before.

Checking group off and on doesn't help. Sometimes reboot helps, another time logout and login iCloud again

Same case here and Apple support couldn't help, the gave me a naive solutions

i faced same problem , i solved

Login to your account Through Browsing (www.icloud.com)go to setting - Advanced - Restore Contacts -

select archive of contacts to restore - it'll take few minutes & done - check contacts in your Device (must be access Internet & contacts ON)

I have the same problem - it's happened several times, leaving me stranded with no idea how to call. Im going to by a notebook and write everything down manually
