ITunes can't connect after update to iOS10 - invalid response

Neither my iPhone 6 nor iPad Air can connect to iTunes on my Windows 10 PC after updating the Apple software to iOS 10 yesterday. The error message is "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because of an invalid response was received from the device"

Short of wiping and restoring, I've tried all of the options such as changing cords, trying different USB ports, unplugging all peripherals, re-booting, troubleshooting devices in Windows etc. with no success Anyone else having this issue? Anyone found a way to fix it without wiping and restoring?

I'm having the same problem as well, but my message is slightly different. When I plug in my iPhone using the Apple USB, the pop up window says, "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because an invalid response was received from the device."

I've read some of the responses below, and if I uninstall iTunes, will that not delete all of my music?

Please help and thank you in advance!

So I reinstalled iTunes and still no go. Anytime I plug my phone into the computer, my phone gets a message asking if I trust this computer. I say "Trust" and my computer still says, "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because an invalid response was received from the device." UGH!!! Where do I uninstall the Apple Mobile Device Support from?

I'm on a Mac. I've uninstalled iTunes, uninstalled the Apple Mobile Device Support, reinstalled iTunes and reset all settings on my phone. Followed the instructions on this website to remove AMDS:

Finder > Applications and move the iTunes icon to the Trash. Select Go > Go to Folder and enter /System/Library/Extensions and click Go, find AppleMobileDevice.text and drag it into the Trash Bin. Again select Go > Go to Folder and enter /Library/Receipts/ and click Go and find AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg and move it to the Trash. Restart your computer. Empty your trash (Finder > Empty Trash) and restart your computer again. Now download and install the latest version of iTunes. If you see: “iTunes” can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by Mac OS X.

Still can't connect to iTunes. Any other ideas?
