iPhone 7 Plus Phone Call Sound Quality

I went back to Genius Bar and complained they ran tests which said phone fine. Then they made phone calls and heard the muffled sound. In the end they gave me a new phone which has solved the problem.

if you go to settings>general>reset> reset network settings and then re-enter your wi-if password or use cellular data; make a call to test your volume and you should be able to hear.

My Iphone 7 plus does the same with my Otterbox Strada case fitted, I've read many articles about this issue and came to the conclusion the most common remedy is to go to settings>>general>>accessibility and turn off noise cancellation. I understand that if the noise cancellation mic is impeded the sound to the caller will be affected by false noise cancellation. Let me know how you get on with this suggestion...

Try turning off Noise Cancellation in settings/accessibility/noise cancellation. Tried this and vastly improved voice quality on cell to cell calls.

YYes, vastly improved voice quality. Not perfect but sounding like being in a barrel and background bleed over sounds seem to be gone. Will monitor for a few days.

I took my phones back to the apple store. They were all aware of the issue and were willing to switch them out, but did not have one of the colors in stock. Nobody said exactly what the problem was but that some phones have it and some don't. I have 10.1.1 loaded and nothing seems to get rid of the canny sound. Will check back with them in a day and replace them. If continues to happen will do the same again. I hope that apple fixes this issue or at least acknowledges it and what is going on with the phone. It's a great phone otherwise, but not happy with this as it is my primary phone.

Rogers told me LTE was data now it's does. Voice also, the tech made it so it went to LG or G3 what ever the old was it was better by about 80% then Rogers worked on it for 2 days. Ow it's fine it's a soft ware issue. I'm all good now

My iPhone 7 Plus 128 GB running iOS 10.1.1 (U.S. Cellular) is one week old today and I've also had several complaints about poor quality, low volume, cutting in and out, etc. Call volume on their end is louder but distorted/muffled when I'm in regular mode and clearer but low volume when I am on speaker (even when the phone is 12 inches away from my face or closer). On my end, calls sound slightly muffled/distorted to me when in regular mode and have low volume on speaker mode.

I changed from an iPhone 6S on T-Mobile which was crystal clear all of the time with plenty of volume (on my end and their end).

I just bought the 7 and the call quality is awful. My voice and the person on the other end (cell and landline) are muffled. Sounds like I'm in a tunnel. I bought the phone 2 days ago, went to apple today and they blamed Verizon. They told me to turn off VoLTe. I didn't pay this much for a phone to not be able to use it to its full potential. I'm so disappointed I may end up returning it.

Have with the same issue but the other way around. I hear the other person perfectly but the other person complaints that my voice is terrible.

When I use the voice recorder to test the microphone and speak it it sounds perfectly

When I'm leaving a message via carrier voicemail and listen back it sounds terrible

My partner got a iPhone 7 plus, it's more like a minus. I am having trouble hearing him on the phone which ***** because we don't live in the same states as each other so phone calls are important to us.

It didn't happen at all when he had the iPhone 6 and I've been constantly telling him to hold the phone properly or babe I can't hear you and it's starting to affect the relationship.

He is not with the providers everyone has mentioned as we live in Australia. This is clearly a world wide problem and the only thing all of us have in common is that we have the new iPhones, nothing else!

Apple fix your problem and stop passing the buck!

Wow! I have the iPhone 5, and was going to "upgrade" to the 7, but this thread makes me hesitate. I'll wait until this issue is fixed (if ever).

Yep. Exact same problem. On 2 new 6s Plus' and now on a 7 Plus. Nothing left for me to do or try apart from money back

I missed an important business call today with a full signal because the person trying to contact me couldn't hear me properly and due to the sensitive nature of the call I couldn't shout in public so they could hear me. It's blatantly clear to me the Iphone 7/7P do not work as designed, I don't see how it can be a software/IOS issue when the Iphone 6 range use IOS 10.1.1 and they don't suffer the same poor call quality issue. If it's not software it must be hardware, if not the mic something else. For some reason Apple fail to acknowledge the fault exists, I find this an insult given how much I've invested in thier partially working product. There are other mobile phone manufacturers out there who make excellent mobile phones, maybe if we abandon Apple they will realise they can't treat customers like this. If they made a public announcement acknowledging this defect and their plan to rectify matters it would restore my faith in a company that I've respected for years such that I own a Mac Pro, Macbook Air and Ipad Pro. At the moment when people ask my opinion when they are considering purchasing Apple products I have no option but to say they aren't as good as they used to be. Steve Jobs must be turning in his grave god bless him....
