iPhone 7 Plus Phone Call Sound Quality

So we just got 2 new iPhone 7 Plus' and I am noticing that the incoming call audio quality on both sounds strange. I have the Apple leather case on the phone and incoming audio sounds distant. Like it is coming from behind the phone or something. It almost sounds like the phone is on speaker phone but it isn't. Turning the volume down helps a bit but it seems off. Previous I had an iPhone 6 so I don't know how this compares to the 6 Plus.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

I found the solution: The phone was still wrapped up in the original plastic it came in, and that plastic was making the phone sound echo in a strange way. Hope it helps you too! The sound difference without that plastic wrap is massive.

I just bought the 7 and the call quality is awful. My voice and the person on the other end (cell and landline) are muffled. Sounds like I'm in a tunnel. I bought the phone 2 days ago, went to apple today and they blamed Verizon. They told me to turn off VoLTe. I didn't pay this much for a phone to not be able to use it to its full potential. I'm so disappointed I may end up returning it.

My partner got a iPhone 7 plus, it's more like a minus. I am having trouble hearing him on the phone which ***** because we don't live in the same states as each other so phone calls are important to us.

It didn't happen at all when he had the iPhone 6 and I've been constantly telling him to hold the phone properly or babe I can't hear you and it's starting to affect the relationship.

He is not with the providers everyone has mentioned as we live in Australia. This is clearly a world wide problem and the only thing all of us have in common is that we have the new iPhones, nothing else!

Apple fix your problem and stop passing the buck!

I missed an important business call today with a full signal because the person trying to contact me couldn't hear me properly and due to the sensitive nature of the call I couldn't shout in public so they could hear me. It's blatantly clear to me the Iphone 7/7P do not work as designed, I don't see how it can be a software/IOS issue when the Iphone 6 range use IOS 10.1.1 and they don't suffer the same poor call quality issue. If it's not software it must be hardware, if not the mic something else. For some reason Apple fail to acknowledge the fault exists, I find this an insult given how much I've invested in thier partially working product. There are other mobile phone manufacturers out there who make excellent mobile phones, maybe if we abandon Apple they will realise they can't treat customers like this. If they made a public announcement acknowledging this defect and their plan to rectify matters it would restore my faith in a company that I've respected for years such that I own a Mac Pro, Macbook Air and Ipad Pro. At the moment when people ask my opinion when they are considering purchasing Apple products I have no option but to say they aren't as good as they used to be. Steve Jobs must be turning in his grave god bless him....

Interesting to know. But too late for me. Wasted way too much of my time trying to get a "top of the range" smart phone to work as a phone. Full refund for my 7 Plus from Apple yesterday. Now back to Android and people can miraculously hear me again! Was even the same SIM that came out of the iPhone and went into the Android one so all this blaming the network was rubbish. My first ever experience of an iPhone and it was a massive disappointment. Never again Apple!

All my posts have been regarding my 7 Plus, this morning I moved my sim card to the 128gb Iphone 7 I'm selling and found call quality both ends of the call is fine. My 7 Plus was purchased in September at first release and the 7 Mid October. I'm beginning to wonder if the first release models were faulty but the fault wasn't evident in the next production batch. I'm going to call Apple today reference a replacement 7 Plus which should be interesting as I purchased it used from the original purchaser who didn't have a receipt though Apple have registered it to my name. This is where I'll see if Apple are as gracious as Samsung were with my Galaxy Note 7.

I contacted Apple Support again explaining the call quality issue on my 7 Plus wasn't present on my Iphone 7. Once they confirmed support had competed all relevant tests and resets last week my call was escalated to a senior tech who has arranged for my 7 Plus to be picked up for repair and I'll receive it back in 5-7 days repaired or if they can't repair it I'll receive a fully working replacement 7 Plus. It's taken a few calls to get to this stage, let's see what happens.
