iPhone 7 front camera flickering HDR during FaceTime

I had a very similar issue while trying to take a picture with the forward facing camera on my 7 Plus. The whole phone locked up for about 10 - 15 minutes while the screen flashed bright/dark. Finally, the phone responded to all the button prompts I had been trying, and then I was able to reboot. I called Apple tech support, and they said they are aware of the issue, and I was assured that this problem will be fixed with the release of iOS 10.1. They couldn't say when it will be released, but "it will be very soon."

Mine is iPhone 7 Plus 32GB from Malaysia, I'm having the same problem too.

Is like the front camera keeps on looking for the correct brightness even under bright environment.

For me this issue is solved. I did a full backup followed by a full restore. Then first started as a new iPhone just to test the behavior. And it worked better for me. So after some tests I decided to restore my backup data. Then did some new tests. I seems to be gone. Let's hope that it doesn't come back. I still have issues with freezing camera. When I want to start taking a picture, the image remains frozen and unclear during a certain amount of time. Had this also ith my old iPhone 6 when I updated to the iOS 10. Think this is a software problem.

Seems after updated to IOS 10.1. No more flickering.

Update. Still has the the issue daylight is strong.

I got my IPHONE 7+ today and same issue. What a disappointment to have this problem right away.

FaceTime issue still in 10.1 Tested iPhone 7 Plus. I have 6 Plus and 6s Plus and no issues detected with this old hardware and iOS 10. It must be iPhone 7 feature.

I have the same issue too on an unlocked 256GB iPhone 7Plus running IOS 10.1 in Bahrain.

It works fine in the evening, though a FaceTime conversation throughout the day is next to impossible.

I had the same issue. only on facetime. I used Viber and my video call was fine. I think it is more of a software issue than a hardware issue. I also did reset my phone by pressing volume down and holding the power button.

I had the exact same issue. Today I went to app store (in Colorado, US), and they replaced it for me, but again I experienced the same problem on the new iPhone. iPhone 7, 128, unlocked.. Does anyone have any idea?

I still have some delay when I start my camera application, but the FaceTime Flickering seems to be solved !
