Homekit automation not triggering

I have have the same problem as you. When i use eve of hue bridge the tirggers are working fine!

I'm having the same problem.

I have similar set up, I've used IFTTT for the last couple of years to turn the lights on at sunset and off at certain different times per room etc (I've got 18 Hue lights), today I decided to switch to the new Apple Home app and do this as I read that it will work even if internet is down if you have two-factor verification on which I do as I had to turn it on to be able to unlock my Mac with my watch.

I have an iPhone 7 with the new Philips bridge and the latest Apple TV, all devices are running latest software. I can see my Apple TV 4th gen in the Home app as a hub. I tried signing in and out on Apple TV and phone but when I create a trigger to say turn one bulb off in 5 minutes it doesnt work, I've tried lots of times today, with scenes too. If I go to the Philips app it works fine, if I go to the Elgato Eve app it works, I've also got that Home app, the third party one and it works in there too!

I've used IFTTT and its worked well but bringing as much automation as possible into my own ecosystem seems like a really good step forward.

Glad its not just me that's getting frustrated!

Well the elgato and 3rd party home app use the same HomeKit technique to create triggers

so the Apple home app probably has an error in your automation

one mistake I often make is to trigger the lights to be off not on

when you ad a light to a scene, the default setting is copied from the light's current setting

so if the light is off, it will turn it off when the time occurs for the trigger

you can easily check by checking the details of the scene

I'm pretty sure I've set them correctly as I tried them to turn on and off lights when I was trying to triage yesterday, I know what you mean about checking them though and replicating current state. I'm going to reactivate all my IFTTT rules until this is working properly, thankfully I just disabled them so was easy to turn back on.

Looking forward to Canary releasing HomeKit cameras which is soon as going to buy a couple, I heard really good things about them and HomeKit integration is top of their development.

I have been experiencing the same issue with almost the exact same set up. I changed the zigbee channel and that seemed to fix the problem until I tried to trigger my lights using my siri remote on my apple tv. Every time I asked siri to change my light settings it responded with "sorry, I can't do that." After logging out of icloud and logging back in on my apple tv the siri remote worked just fine controlling my lights. However, my time based automation started not triggering again. Very frustrating. At this point I'm going back to using the Hue app as it worked just fine. I would love to hear any other ideas on how to correct this issue in Home app (if it is correctable at all vs. a software update from Apple) but so far I'm very disappointed in the Home app.

I hear you David! both timed lights and sunset setting in the Apple Home app do not work for me at all.

All I want to do is trigger 6 scenes at sunset without using IFTTT. I've also tried setting up in Elgato Eve and the selfcoded excellent 3rd party Home app but I'm baffled. I will email developer of Home app and see what he says, I'll report back. I did read somewhere that people only using Hue with HomeKit seem to have a problem.

They just released the Elgato mains plugs in the UK that are HomeKit compatible so may buy one of those and see if that makes any difference.

I'm still getting the odd one not triggering, I read that you can only trigger scenes by automation so I created a scene for when I leave in the morning and it turns off all the lights at a certain time, I've let it all settle down and not change anything for five days but I'm still getting inconsistency, this morning The trigger to turn the lights off at 8:30 AM when I took the kids to school was still on when I got back to the house so didn't work, I'm confident that I've set everything up correctly and all my devices are up-to-date with the latest software. It's just a bit odd that when I search the formups again today there aren't many people with the issues that we seem to have.

Same issues still persist for me as well. Sometimes they trigger, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they will even trigger the wrong scene at the wrong time. I am surprised I can't find any other people in the forums with this problem either. Doesn't give me much confidence that this will be fixed in an update. Oh well, at least the Hue app works.

Yes, Hue app great and others too, but the only one that can trigger at sunset and sunrise is the Apple HomeKit app as the api for this has not been released to developers according to a recent official post on Elgato website I read when I was trying to get to the bottom of this last week. Finger crossed for hardware update fix?

Just for the record I got rid of my Airport Extreme 3 months ago and bought a Ubiquiti Lite Router and I use a Ubiquiti Unifi Pro Access Point in the house, no Apple router now. Not sure this would affect anything.

I even tried to disconnect every device from iCloud, erase my iPhone settings and do everything from scratch: a reak pain without reward.

In my case all scenes work fine and all the accessories are in range and connected. It's only automation that doesn't seem to work properly.

I updated all my devices (2 new Apple TV's, iOS, OSX) last night to latest software released yesterday and triggers seem to be working now, anyone else found this?

For the last week, all the automation i have created are running very well. Even the one's related to the sun. I think Apple have worked in Home kit lately. Hope the stability will last.

I've updated all my devices as well, still completely inconsistent results in triggering automation. I have given up on Home app and gone back to using Hue app for automation. Works perfectly as it did before. In my experience the Home app has been garbage. It's not like I have multiple smart home devices creating havoc either. I've got 4 Hue lights, that's it. I've tried everything from hard resetting the hub to reinstalling the apps and rebuilding all my automation settings multiple times to no avail. The most puzzling part of all this is it still seems there are few to no other people reporting this issue which gives me little to no hope it will be addressed by Apple. I absolutely cannot figure this one out. Very frustrating. Oh well, first world problems right?
