Iphone 7 and 7 plus's screen dimmer/yellowish than iphone 6 and 5s

Hi,

Is anyone facing the same issue as me when looking at their new iphone 7/7plus?

I noticed both the 7 model's screen resolution were more yellowish and dimmer than the previous models even though all of them had their brightness set to the maximum.

Does anyone have any idea why is it like that? Thanks!

Could this be a carrier issue, ie: Verizon, AT&T, T Mobile etc? From what I understand different vendors build these phones and it could be a manufacturing issue with a particular carrier. For what it's worth, I just bought a new iPhone 7 from Verizon and I am having the yellow/dimmer screen effect. A friend of mine has Sprint and his 7 plus looks fine.

I don't know if carriers themselves are involved, but there are a few different model numbers. For example, here in Japan only they have a special model which finally includes the Felica chip so you can use your iPhone to on trains, subways, buses, etc.

I suspect there are probably large batches of phones with this problem and Apple isn't admitting it yet. I haven't been able to get any info out of them. I think if they don't respond by Monday I'll to the consumer affairs agency next.

Went to the apple store a month ago for a screen replacement. The new screen was as warm as the one before. I told them about this and they said they don't see anything defective. The "Genius" said they do not have any objective measures of the screen temperature and the only way they determined it was not defective was by "looking" (wow).

IT WAS FXXKING YELLOW !!!!

"Luckily" the phone had some other defects (the bezel on one side of the phone is too wide that it creates a visible gap between the screen and the casing of the phone. This resulted dust accumulation). Now the "Genius" said they do have an objective method of determining the defect and at the end they gave me a service unit. Boom now I have a phone which is everything apple advertised.

I feel humiliated by how the geniuses treated me as if I was making it up. All of my friends and families could see the difference in colour temperature, and yet the geniuses refused to acknowledge the problem, even after the screen replacement. The only way I had this problem fixed was because of other defects the phone had.

I think it is not just a matter of yellow tinting. I think it is a matter of actually being dimmer as well. I can look at my iPhone 6 Plus side-by-side with my iPhone 7 Plus and the iPhone 7 Plus is clearly and obviously dimmer than the iPhone 6 Plus with all the exact same settings.

Everybody who has seen it agrees.

It's good to know that there are some phones out there which are as Apple advertised. I need to pursue more exchanges.

I had the exact same problem with my new iPhone 7 plus. The screen was less bright and warmer in tone than my old iPhone 6 and also vs the new iPhone 7 plus my friend received. I tried all of the suggestions in multiple threads but the one that finally corrected this for me was to reset all settings in SETTINGS > GENERAL > RESET > RESET ALL SETTINGS. Once complete, my color looks bright and balanced like it should be. I hope this works for others as I was about to return it.

Reset All Settings didn't help with my iPhone 7 Plus when we tried it at the Apple service center.

But there is some possibly encouraging news. My persistence in sending emails to various people at Apple, including my side-by-side photos might be paying off.

Yesterday I received a phone call from an Apple executive office and they agreed with me that my iPhone 7 Plus display did not look as advertised, compared with my iPhone 6 Plus and they are escalating this with their engineering team and said they would call me again today.

So at least Apple is not ignoring this now and maybe something will happen.

Other people have reported that after multiple exchanges they did finally end up with as-advertised brighter iPhones.

And I've read some technical articles about how there is some manual per-device visual backlight LED calibration that takes place during manufacture to achieve a certain color gamut (which, if true, is astonishing).

So it does seem likely that there are per-device variations in display quality.

Anyway, at least they are finally listening to me about it.

I hope I have better news to report soon.

Same issue here.

Just got the two phones (7 plus) for me and my wife.

As soon as restore back up, I realized dimmer screen.... it is way dimmer...very noticeable.

I don't think I can stand on this screen. I have appointment next Wed. to see them in Pasadena, CA store.

I hope exchange phone will have bright screen but, I'm afraid because lots of people here get same problem phones after they exchanged it.

Don't know what to do. I need to send my old phones because it was an upgrade deal... Should I refund and keep the old phone? or should I trust apple and wait for an fix.......................

I had the same issue. After reading this topic i decided to wait instead of bringing the brand new iphone 7 plus device to service.

It took approx. 3 weeks issue to solve. Now every color goes back to normal. Maybe i got a new manufactured device. If you are facing this issue on a -just bought- device i suggest to wait until screen gets its normal state.
