Iphone 7 and 7 plus's screen dimmer/yellowish than iphone 6 and 5s

Hi,

Is anyone facing the same issue as me when looking at their new iphone 7/7plus?

I noticed both the 7 model's screen resolution were more yellowish and dimmer than the previous models even though all of them had their brightness set to the maximum.

Does anyone have any idea why is it like that? Thanks!

Nick, great Job.

If I have same situation, I would exchange it till I get right one.

However, my situation is little bit more difficult to it.

Me and my wife phone is an upgrade from Tmobile and only way I can get exchange is by using buyers remorse.

This means that I have to pay first and wait for the refund all the time when I ask for exchange.

As I mentioned above, I even went to apple store and they don't care because I purchased thru tmobile and what they offer is replace display on new iphone 7plus.

I don't agree with you about glue things because mine was very yellowish (yes I check the night shift), I mean noticeable yellow but, after one day usage, it is gone and now it is just dimmer than iphone 6 plus.

My iphone 6 plus is blue bright like your wife's and my 7 is just little dimmer and darker.... Yes, but when I take a picture, or share same picture with iphone 6 plus, it is notably different.

My only option is

1. Refund and buy from apple store with trade in.... then, I lose about $415.00 / phone, because I don't get special upgrade deal from T-mobile. (Tmobile is paying $415.00 / phone for promotion)

2. Wait till apple provide recall on those date/purchased phone

3. Changes display only on new phone.... (which apple offered)

4. drop the phone in a year, buy new phone with AppleCare.....(Bad choice)

5. wait for ipone 8 or something...

What would you do?

Some people describe this as a yellowish-tint problem and some as an overall dimness problem. I describe my problem as overall dimness and dingy looking, compared with my iPhone 6 Plus. The iPhone 7 Plus is definitely not 25% brighter, nor "more vibrant and brilliant looking" as advertised at the Apple site.

I posted side-by-side photos of my iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 7 Plus here: iPhone 7 Plus display dingier than iPhone 6 Plus display

I'm in discussions with somebody from Apple now. After sending emails to everybody I could think of, one office finally replied. It does seem like certain batches were not manufactured properly. It's an extremely annoying problem, and I hope that Apple fixes it for everybody, including me, even if they have to exchange our devices hundreds of times until they get it right.

I have also thought about the selling it, taking a loss, and giving up completely on Apple, after decades of being a loyal user. So I am hoping they resolve this problem quickly.

I'd keep exchanging, even if it takes 100 of them. As I said, I know there are good units out there. My wife and friend have one. It seems, perhaps, the Oct/November builds may be defective.

I don't care how much effort it takes me, I'll exchange and setup as many iPhones as it takes. They charge a premium for these products, we should get a premium device that meets advertised specifications. It is as simple as that.

I'm with you Doug,

I can definitely notice the screen is warmer and less bright that my iPhone 6 plus. Very easy to see side by side.

I hope as someone said, they just forgot to leave the factory set up and it is just simple fix for firmware update.

It is really bothered me but, as soon as I get rid of my IPhone 6plus, I will be free because there's no way to compare my iphone 7 plus....

I'm just hoping that Apple will come with some solutions.

I will keep it as it is....

Is there any form that everyone can sign who is having same problem so that apple can notice????????????

Thank you.

I don't know of any way to let them know. I doubt they would care, either way, since people keep buying them. It is only people like us who notice the small difference for whom it is a problem. The only way to let them "know," in my opinion, is to keep sending them back. Someone will eventually inquire as to the reason for so many returns.

The problem with exchanges is that the phone you will get will likely come from the same batch as the bad ones (since the phones come off assembly in order). Without being able to get the S/N and see the manufacture date, you are merely wasting time (as I have discovered). I recommend getting the S/N and running it through sndeep.info to see when it was manufactured. If it was made in Oct/Nov, don't take it.

My iPhone 7 is sure a lot brighter and less yellow since I got the cataract removed from my left eye earlier this week. 🙂

Seriously though, this seems to be some sort of problem with some batches. I got mine on the day it came out and no problems with yellow/brightness, as noted with my right eye and now my left after surgery. The glue thing is totally bogus. Something else is wrong.
