"Phone" app freeze on iOS 10

Update on mine.

hangups continue after disabling my exchange account.

Did reset all settings.

Seems to be a little better, but still hangups once in a while ?????

So if its the exchange account causing the problem, i suppose even to setup as a new phone wouldn't help, right ?

You might try backing up to iCloud and restoring from that. Restoring from iCloud basically redone loads all of your apps fresh and restores relevant data.

Obviously you need to make sure you have enough room on your iCloud account. This made a diffference for me before I upgraded my phone.

I was having the same issue with the phone app & I tried the soft reset and it worked for me.

Hold the home and power button till you see the apply logo and the phone will restart.

I Have the same issue on phone/messages/contacts app. I changed my iphone6s with a new one in the Apple Store and I downloaded the iOS 10.1 but nothing changed. These apps freezes and sometimes i have to restart the phone, other times it solves temporary if you close and restart the apps.

I Think that the problem is caused by having many emails and contacts account. I have an outlook, exchange, gmail, iCloud account.

I have the exact same issue, Mesaging app freezes before you could click the send button, Whatsapp freezes in the middle of a text conversation. Mine is a iphone 6s on 10.0.2 and the only workaround is kill the app and open it again, at times I am having to reboot the phone too....really irritating ...when this freezing started I have another problem that using the defoult Mail app from apple 90% of my email body contents are zero, where as on a PC mail cliet they are perfect, finally I am having to use the free Outlook app for iphone and it does show all my email contents.

I have updated to iOS 10.1... It's still a POS! Bad software making good hardware look like crap!

The phone app continues to freeze and I did a forced update as the Apple Re suggested.

I miss many calls now as it is constantly loosing signal.

When the VM come in I can not use the native app for minutes and even a forced close a restart of the app still requires 30s delay.

I am so frustrated with Apple now.

I have noticed that the Visual Voicemail once that completes the app seems to work again.

THERE IS NO OPTION TO TURN IT OFF!

IMHO: Apple is forcing this to make voice recognition better for Siri but we are all their guinea pigs!

I have the exact same issue, on an iPhone 6s.

The phone app freezes every time i open it to make a call. Reset / restore does not fix it.
Force closing the app makes it work after a while and possible to do a call.

• When is Apple going to understand that this is a BUG in IOS10 that must be fixed?
• What if I need to do an emergency call and the calling app just locks up?

I had exactly the same concerns.

I think Apple is going to have some legal responsibility if iPhone stops working as a phone in some life-threatening emergency.

Anyway, disabling the contact syncing immediately solve my problem, hope it also works in your case.

The problem is that you can't disable the push sync only for contacts but also for the emails and this is not a solution.

update to just released IOS 10.1 & see if it works

Still not works for me

Updated to iOS 10.1 today and everything seemed fine but I just checked now when I go to the appstore to download an app, i click on get then install then it goes back to get. Does apple not want us to install or purchase apps anymore. They shooting themselves in the foot, as they say.

What is beeing done with this issue, as one correctly stated, this could become fatal in an emergency situation!
