Turn off calculator keyboard sound iOS 10

How do you turn off keyboard click sounds in the calculator? "Keyboard Clicks" is OFF in Settings.

iPhone 6, iOS 10

What happened Apple!!?? Jobs is turning himself around in the grave now I'm pretty sure. #uxfail

They're doing exactly what Jobs was so famous for: giving you what he believed you should have. Apple has never been known for offering a lot of choice. You can agree or disagree with that user design philosophy but it's what Apple's been doing pretty much since the beginning.

I have just finished updating to iOS 10.1.1, hoping that this update would solve the issue.

It didn't. I'm very disappointed and I can't see a reason why Apple decided to turn on the keyboard sounds in the calculator app (and some others) with iOS 10. This is sooo annoying. Why are they not able to see the obvious: Anyone who mutes the keyboard does not want the click sounds which includes the calculator and every other app.

I sent a bug report to Apple, but I doubt that this will solve anything in the near future.

You're doing just what you say Apple does and making assumptions about what "everyone" wants. I have keyboard sounds turned off (drives me crazy when my best friend texts because she leaves them on!) but probably wouldn't have noticed the sounds the calculator keyboard made if people hadn't brought it up here. I do understand that some people find it very annoying but I find it a non-issue.

Could Apple make it user adjustable? Sure. Will they? Based on the way they do things, I'd guess not.

Are you serious? After iOS 10 upgrade keyboard clicks are enabled in Calculator app even though disabled in Settings/Sounds!? Hey Apple, there's this thing called Quality Control. You should look into is sooner than possible.

It is highly unlikely that this was an accident. However, if it annoys you, submit feedback using the link already given in this thread. Apple is not reading your post.

Super annoying! Muting the phone is only helpful if your not trying to listen to something else at the same time. I was listening to music and adding something to the calendar at the same time. The music was overridden by a really loud clicking noise, which is amplified massively through earphones. Perhaps Apple should ask us what we'd like, rather than forcing unhelpful features on us.

I'm just stunned.

It doesn't make sense. It could only be a mistake however there are people who actually say they had reported this issue to apple while testing the beta version..

unbelievable!

Yes, it actually makes a lot of sense. For years, people have been complaining that the Calculator app was broken because they got wrong answers. It turned out what they were doing, in almost every case, was tapping a key twice without realizing it because there was no feedback. The sounds should help prevent that.

The fact that there is a perfectly sensible reason for the UI change does not, of course, mean you need to like it. You should submit your feedback directly to Apple using the link already provided. Meanwhile, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of calculator apps available in the App Store. Many of them are superior to the included app. I'm sure there are plenty with no keyboard sounds. You may want to consider exploring some of them.
