iPhone 7 Bluetooth connectivity with Ford SYNC malfunctions

I'm using my iPhone 7 with my 2016 Ford Fusion with SYNC. The Bluetooth connection worked flawlessly with my iPhone 6S. Today, the iPhone 7 experienced significant connectivity issues, including regular dropouts, dropping the connection entirely, and music just stopping playing. Not a cellular data issue as the songs were on the iPhone. Resetting network settings, turning bluetooth on/off, and dropping/re-connecting to the car did not fix the issue. No equipment or other things have changed except the switch to the new iPhone.

I fully don't expect there to be a "solution" other than a software update or returning this phone, but has it happened to anyone else?

I ended up returning my iPhone 7 Plus (model A1784) and repurchased an iPhone 7 Plus (model A1661). So far the music skipping and random disconnects while on calls is gone. I did a lot more research on these Apple forums before going into the Apple Store and ultimately deciding to return and repurchase. There is another forum that has 43 pages of responses about the same issue. I posted a very long response there and am including a link if you'd like to go there and get more information. It's worth a read as it may help and will explain my logic for doing the return and change in models.

I wish people would stop saying Sync needs an update! If your 6 worked just fine then you buy a 7 and all **** breaks loose, then its safe to say the problem is OBVIOUSLY with Apple. I've updated Everything and it's most def the iPhone 7, I seriously wish I did not switch phones, I'm on Tmobile and my calls do not drop from the phone, they just drop the bluetooth connection from My Ford Sync so now hands free is a joke. It's not Ford, never had one problem with music playing from my phone, text messages popping up on my Ford Sync or calls seemlessly working via bluetooth, til I switched phones...I'm sick of it already, no handsfree or the text messages that once popped on my screen so I could verbally reply to, no longer works so Im officially out of communication when in my car, unless I'm parked when all of these features a few weeks ago were accomplished hands free. It's ridiculous.

I have a Bluetooth logging profile from Apple installed on my iPhone because Apple reached out to me for this problem. I've uploaded the logging files to Apple, so Apple is seriously looking into this problem. I only don't know the status. It looks like that iOS 10.3 will not fix the issues so maybe they are still working on a solution...?

I have the same issue with my Jeep wrangler 2016 & iphne 7 , the starnge thing that it worked perfect for 2 month then i started to face the disconnecting issue, i tested another sumsung @ sony phones on the car & they worked good. Also i used the phone on another Bluetooth devices and it worked.

I contacted apple support but they are going in circles "restore iPhone, reset to factory settings, reset network settings, erase & install the phone again) nothing worked!!!! They are just consuming time!!!!

I'm really disappointed, how they can't reach a solution!!!!!

I've put my 2015 mustang in the shop twice over sync disconnecting my phone while in the middle of calls. It disconnects and reconnects constantly while I'm using the hands free sync system. I do not have any problem with bluetoothing the music or any of the other features. Just the disconnecting of the phone. I did not have this problem when I first bought my iphone 7plus at christmas. After the first update with apple, I started having some glitches. After, the latest update, I pretty much can not use my phone handsfree because it disconnects and reconnects so many times during a conversation. Very frustrating my car is in the shop now because of this. Apple support told me to reset my phone. It didn't help.

Apple please fix this. It is very dangerous while driving to have to switch my phone over to use the speaker on the phone instead of my sync system. I did read on the ford site to turn off you auto phone book. that might help. idk I will see today when I pick up my mustang.

My car has been in the shop 3 times trying to figure this out before my warranty expires. There is nothing wrong with my sync system. It worked fine even after I bought my 7plus at christmas. It wasnt until the last update that my calls drop from my bluetooth. I can still play music and use my navigation with no interruption. It's just the phone calls that the system disconnects and reconnects over and over while in mid conversation. The sync system is the least compatible phone is the iphones.

I have the same issue after I upgraded to the iPhone 7. The weird thing is the the Bluetooth connectivity for music (any app) works fine. I'm only effected when making calls. I have a 2014 Lincoln MKS and it's driving me nuts. Almost could say it's a safety issue because it's a distraction trying to get it to reconnect. I don't have the connectivity issue in any other cars or rentals for that matter. Wish Ford and Apple would collaborate to resolve the issue!!

Exactly the same issue in my 2016 Fusion Titanium. BT Stereo = no disconnection. BT calling = disconnection from the system randomly. Sometimes it's within 30 seconds, sometimes it's after 10 minutes. Doesn't drop the call, just disconnects the phone from Sync. Apple hasn't come up with a solution except to say it is probably Ford's fault. Ford said in a tech chat that they thinks a problem with the phone but admit that they haven't tested iPhone7 and don't intend to.

Tried to resolve this with Apple over chat. Was told that I needed to go into the Genius Bar to resolve. Went into my Apple Store and was told this is a known issue, that there is no fix, and that Apple engineers are working on it but there is no timeline for one. My Geni said that it would probably be done in the next few software updates.

I found a workarround that is working in my case.

My issue is the drop calls while in a call. The call disconnects from the car audio and goes to the phone and a few seconds after returns to the car.

I tried all the things you can imagine and all the settings combinations and even a DFU restore.

I m using an Iphone 7 plus now with IOS 10.3 and Ford Sync 2 audio handsfree.

I just disconnect the wifi from the iphone and no more issues with call drops. I know exactly the places where the calls were being dropped and so far i have been able to do 30 min calls with no drops.
