iPhone 7 Bluetooth connectivity with Ford SYNC malfunctions

I'm using my iPhone 7 with my 2016 Ford Fusion with SYNC. The Bluetooth connection worked flawlessly with my iPhone 6S. Today, the iPhone 7 experienced significant connectivity issues, including regular dropouts, dropping the connection entirely, and music just stopping playing. Not a cellular data issue as the songs were on the iPhone. Resetting network settings, turning bluetooth on/off, and dropping/re-connecting to the car did not fix the issue. No equipment or other things have changed except the switch to the new iPhone.

I fully don't expect there to be a "solution" other than a software update or returning this phone, but has it happened to anyone else?

I agree. Same problem with 2014 mustang. iPhone 6 worked. 7 didn't. Talked to Ford Sync Tech while sitting in my car. Went through a monotonous process that included putting your foot on the brake and opening the car door for 30 seconds. I was ultimately able to connect via bluetooth but only the telephone works at this point. The sync system does not work wit text messages at this point. Instead I receive a message on the sync display that says "Not Supported" Very frustrating!

Update 10.3.2 didn't fix sh*t!

Like @murrdog mentioned before, I've exact the same problem with my iPhone 7 (Model A1778). It does not maintain bluetooth connectivity with SYNC when on a cellular call. It does repeatedly drop and re-establish the bluetooth connection. This still occurs on iOS 10.3.2!

HELLO APPLE!!!??? We've bought a 1000 dollar phone with no working bluetooth connectivity...!!!

How can you find out which bluetooth chipset is in your iPhone?

Your not alone. Technology is changed no too fast for us normal consumers for the sake of their bottom line. $$$$$

I have all kinds of problems with my iPhone 7+ not the least is Ford Synch. What ever happen to "backwards compatible". Yes it could be Ford also but the bottom line could be the same. Maybe a law that puts customers up front is in order.

When backwards compatible is thrown away for "new and better" your customers soon, if not already won't be able to keep up. Think about your customers. All of them.

Sorry Apple I think it's greed and would love to hear your take.

You're not alone. My iPhone 6 worked flawlessly with Sync. The iPhone 7 has been nothing short of frustrating. I spent 45 minutes sitting in my car on the phone with a Ford tech and was finally able to get the telephone to work with sync although it seems intermittent. When I asked the Ford tech about the text feature displaying "not supported" he put me on hold to confer with his supervisor. When he returned and told that the text feature is definitely not supported. I asked about any resolution that may be in the works he didn't know. Has anyone seen a response from Apple on this? Their phones are ridiculously expensive and one would think they would want to keep their customer base happy!

I have been having the same problem with my iPhone 7 plus in a 2015 Ford Focus with sync 2 on iOS 10.3.2. Been on to Apple many times and have sent them mini diagnostics but nothing has changed. Very frustrating and unacceptable . Phone disconnects from Bluetooth while on calls without cutting off the call and reconnects. This can happen several times during a phone call. Very hard to understand why Apple have not come me up with a fix for this yet and I now believe the phone is faulty but Apple refuses to accept it is or replace it.

I was today contacted again by AppleCare Outreach and they wanted to know the MAC address of my bluetooth. Hopefully they are working on smashing the bug... The guy on the phone couldn't tell me much more than that he was asked to collect some info.

He also asked (again) what happends. So I told him as mentioned before; I've exact the same problem with my iPhone 7 (Model A1778). It does not maintain bluetooth connectivity with SYNC when on a cellular call. It does repeatedly drop and re-establish the bluetooth connection. This still occurs on iOS 10.3.2!

Also mentioned that we have no issues with the Sync 2 bluetooth connection when using an iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S.
