Why apple (Macbook) and not Sony Vaio, hp,etc....?¿

Hello everybody! Hope u r doing well in this pre-Christmas time.

I was thinking on "buying" a new laptop for Christmas although I am not very sure which one to order. The thing is that I have never been a Mac user but I'm starting to reconsider this since I find Apple's laptops extremely interesting and amazing.

My main doubt is about the main differences between Apple and Microsoft. I have always used Microsoft Windows in all my previous pc's or laptops. Is there a real improvement in a good way, innovation?what are the main differences between both ways of understanding computing and entertainment? I truly think a 64
Mb video card controller is not a very good deal. Is the CPU speed and screen brightness and resolution such a great thing a lot of people say?

Thanks very much in advance, lets see if u guys help me in making up my mind,

take care and...enjoy life!

LOL! Don't get me started on the PSP. My brother got one for Christmas last year and the thing has been for repairs four times. Last time he only used it for an hour after getting it back and the right trigger failed! And to believe that was a replacement! Anyway Sony's quality has seemed to have taken a real dive the past few years if you ask me. This is the first Mac I've ever owned, but I've used them plenty of times in the past and have had zero problems related to build quality.

Now that Apple is using the intel CPUs on their
product line, I really don't see any reason to buy a
Sony laptop with that Sony logo on the top, unless
you specifically need that DELL for work or business.
Most every software is crossed platform right now or
in the process of converting and there are tons of
software that are better on the Mac platform anyway.
People think that Macs are totally different
technology and ask the same questions over and over.
The only difference is the Operating System, the
Apple Logo on top and the design. As for the specs,
the macs come out ahead.

As for problems, I have none.

Well lets be fair here, as much as I LOVE LOVE LOVE OSX, the MACBOOK uses Intel GMA onboard graphics which translates to NO GAMING at all, especially anything OPENGL, 3D and also translates to some problems with FINAL cut Pro if rendering MESH 3d.

Regarding Office and Photoshop, they will remain much much faster until Universal Binary comes out in the next 4-6 months.

That said, Windows VISTA might help out the Macbook believe it or not (grin), how?

Well, you know those commercials, HI, I AM A MAC and I AM A PC, well, once Vista comes out, the MacBook is going to need a stronger GPU if it wants to continue supporting windows.

I see it happening as the desktops will go QUAD x 2, MacBook Pro (QUAD) and the MACBOOK similar to iMAC with ATI graphics.

Plus of course, AMD has a new chip structure due out in the next year or so which is supposed to be a Core Duo killer, and AMD and APPLE love each other! (grin) as Apple has been part of the consortium for a long long time and most people I know that are MAC users, (until the duo core) only used AMD as they associated INTEL with WINDOZE (grin) and it was becuase of AMD that INTEL had to cut, cut, cut prices, otherwise, without AMD we would be at 1.GHZ and $500 jump to a 1.1 ghz chip.

I don't know if any of you remember, but INTEL, prior to the Athlon DAYS, used to get over $500 for a difference in 100 mhz.
