iPhone 7 Overheating

My new iPhone 7 overheats as soon as it starts to play video, download files, or play music. It even heats up when I'm taking photos.

I found the following article given a fix. I reseted the phone and started as a clean, new phone setup and still heats up.

Here is a quote of the article:

How to fix the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus overheating problem with these solutions:

  • There could be a good chance that a third-party application is the cause of the overheating Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The best way to check this issue is by holding down power and Home button until the screen goes black then remove finger from home while continuing to hold power. Once you see the Apple logo-hold the volume up button until the springboard loads. If the device is in Safe Mode the tweaks will be gone under the setting menu. If the problem is gone then you know it’s being caused by a third-party app. You can try uninstalling one by one to track it down or go for a factory reset.
  • Before you factory reset the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, it’s recommended to wiPe the cache partition of the smartphone (Learn how to clear the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus cache). Select on Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage. Then select on Manage Storage. After that tap an item in Documents and Data. Then slide unwanted items to the left and tap Delete. Finally tap Edit > Delete All to remove all the app’s data.

Is anyone else having this problem, and do you have a fix or solution?

Thanks,

Let's rank your symptoms in order of importance:

1. WiFi greyed out

2. Phone getting warm

It's a little like saying:

"I've got this itch on my back that I can't reach."

"By the way, that shark just bit off my foot"

The first indicates a serious hardware problem with your phone. Anything else is irrelevant. You should start here: If Wi-Fi is grayed out or dim on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Why is my I phone 8 getting quite warm

Because processing data generates heat. The more work it is doing, the warmer it will be. Unless the phone displays the message that it is overheating and shuts off it is normal. If you are charging the battery it will also get warm. And if you use it while charging the battery it will get warmer. The things that generate the most heat are:

  • Using mobile data or voice with a very weak cell signal
  • Playing games with interactive hi-rez graphics
  • Using the camera
  • Having the brightness way up
  • Combinations of the above

I called apple and they went on and on with the same old technical gibberish that they usually use. But ask to get an appointment at the Genius Bar and they will change your phone for free after going on and again with the same gibberish that apple care did. Or you can go to a specialist on iPhones and get a retrograde done to your phone. Usually cost around 20 to 40$ to get done but at least you'll get battery protection back.

On my 10 day old iPhone 7 plus running iOS 10.2.1, my overheating problem occurred whenever the Tile app was running with location services always allowed and another app was running. This occurred even after updating the Tile app to the latest version.

I had put my phone in my pocket with the video camera on (forgot to turn it off) and within a few minutes, my pocket was really hot.

After turning Tile app location services to never, the overheating problem went away. The Tile app does not have an option to use location services only when it is active on screen.

My guess is that any app using the GPS location services or doing continuous communication via the cellular radio or wifi radio can cause the iPhone 7 plus to overheat. The solution seems to limit the use of GPS to those times when it is truly needed.

I wouldn't do that if I were you. Apple Stores lie now and will try and give you a new phone. The problem is that they will give you a refurbished phone. They will lie and say it isn't but it is. So they take your brand new phone that you paid a hole bunch and give you a repaired one. The worst part is that the problem doesn't go away. So they get a new phone just by lying and give you a broken used one.

It is only an "issue" if it gets so hot that it displays an overtemperature message and shuts down.“

You are WRONG, sir. It is aso very much an issue when the phone runs so hot that it causes the battery to drain in one hour of video playback, which has been what the YouTube app has been causing. Who’s spreading misinformation now? Except your misinformation is actually dangerous and harmful as someone might actually believe what you’re saying and not fix their phone thinking that’s normal, till one day soon enough they end up having to spend a ton of money on a new battery as the old one would have died much sooner than a battery ran in normal conditions would have. I am so done with your nonsense. Don’t contact me again.

I brought my iPhone 7 the day before i came on holidays on the 21st of March, its been working fine since buying it. Last night i had spare time and as i got 6 months free trial on Apple music when purchasing my phone i decided to connect it all up. This morning i have been woken to my phone extremely hot, like worrying hot and it won't turn on. I reading your comments i think the phone has fried itself overnight just sitting on charge. Its been a week and a half and i have lost all of my photos. I will not be a very nice person at Apple today. I wish them all luck with the mood i am now in!!

Apple is taking everyone for a ride. I am not falling for it anymore. I am gifting my wife a Google Pixels instead of iPhone 7 now. I have decided this after buying an iPhone 7 plus and using it for 2 months now.

There are so many flaws. And apple is totally oblivious. Very very sad.

iPhone issues:

1. The keybord conflict and disapperance issue. I have a Google keyboard installed but whenever there is a need to input passcodes and passwords, the default inbuilt keyboard will come up. But majority of the times, no keyboard comes up when inputting a passcode or password and even amount on the mobile banking sites. And it's very frustrating. I have to reboot to solve this issue temporarily. It comes back again and it's for sure.

2. The assistive touch flickering and changing positions issue. The assistive touch jumps up and down all the time. It goes up Everytime the keyboard comes up and stays right above the keyboard. But a lot of times it moves a few millimeters down and up and than down again and stays on the face of the keyboard and I will have to move it up out of the keyboard.

3. The brightness changing on its own issues. The brightness is supposed to adjust itself according to the lux levels but it's weird when it dims to the very minimum in the same amount of light when it was on around 25% a little while ago.

4. The pull up menu issues. The pull up menu which shows wifi, flight mode, brightness etc. won't come up several many times especially from the right side of the bottom home button. It is more responsive on the left side. Weird.

5. The battery percentage glitch. It was showing as 23% and as soon as I took the charger pin out, it said 67%.

6. The website www.irctc.co.in does not work. I cannot touch anything on this website. I cannot enter username/password. I cannot tap on any links on this website. Nothing. (Latest: it's working now).

7. I tap on download for something such as a new voice for speaking the text or a video which I have received on WhatsApp group, but as soon as I leave the screen the download stops. I come back and I have to start it from scratch.

8. The touch id plays up as well when charging.

9. The back of the phone near the camera gets really warm during usage even if it is not charging.

10. The call divert sign disapperance. I divert my calls to another phone number and I see a call divert sign on my iPhone. And than I switch off the iPhone. Later I turn it on and the call divert is still applicable but the sign disappears. All my calls are being diverted to another number but I am absolutely unaware coz the sign is not there.

This is just so far....

This is totally 100 percent correct my iPhone 7 plus 128gb matte black was getting a little hot.I didn't have the battery issues or none of that but it was getting a little bit hot, also I had the app tutu helper installed. I than went and deleted the app and deleted its cache, than restarted my phone and hard reset it and it has even improved battery life too and it's never been hot ever since.
