Birthday calendar duplicated hundreds of times on iOS 10

Having recently upgraded to iOS 10, I see that my calendar app has duplicated the birthdays calendar hundreds of times - both on the Facebook calendar group and my default home calendar group. It has also duplicated my default calendar hundreds of times (See pictures below).

The default home Calendar is easy enough to get rid of. I simply hit 'Edit' and delete each one one by one (which is annoyingly slow and tedious, but possible). However the 'Birthdays' calendars cannot be removed or deleted this way. There is no option to delete or merge them.

I've restored my phone's iOS on iTunes, hoping it would remove (or at least merge) the hundreds of Birthday calendar duplicates. However, after restoring my phone's software with a recent iCloud backup, the duplicates were still there.

Is this an iOS 10 bug? If not, is there a way to fix this?

I have this issue on my iPad and iPhone. (1) extra birthday calendar on my iPad and (2) on my iPhone. I tried all sorts of things and decided to format my iPad and start as new. That was the only way to fix the problem. I have my iPad working as it should now, but to do the same on my iPhone would take at least a day or more. Not something I want to try...yet.

This is a significant bug in iOS. Hopefully Apple will address it soon, because I shouldn't have to basically blow up the phone and start as new to fix this annoying calendar issue.

OMG, OMG, OMG, this is my happiest day since I got my iPhone 7 --- the problem was fixed by Decipher Backup Repair tool, and I am no longer wanting to smash my new phone, this is the best $30 that I ever spent in S/W. I wonder why I waited so long after seeing other people's testimonies ??

I found out that the Decipher Tool repaired more errors than I expected. If you currently have the multiple calendar problem, please check Settings - Privacy - Location Service - (scroll to the very bottom) System Service - Frequent Locations. Mine stopped recording since the calendar bug began, I did call Apple for support on that, I was only told to turn it off an back on, and wait a few days, but it never came back working, it was frustrating because I use 3D touch on the Map app to navigate to my frequents locations, but this wasn't as bothersome as the calendar bug, so I kind of just ignore it.

Only two days after I used the Decipher Tool to repair and restore, this started working !!

Hi All,

I am the Dean in the post made by Kelly at Decipher Tools. Apple executive relations are well aware of the issue and have been working closely with me on this.

I now have 3 iPhones (2 x iPhone 7 Plus & 1 x iPhone 6S Plus) in my possession.

Kelly's custom build will certainly fix this issue especially the birthday duplication issue.

If you want to just eliminate the "Calendar, calendar" simply delete ALL accounts on the phone not just turn off calendar.

Best Regards,

Dean

Faulty advice, I believe, since I have done exactly this. The multiple calendars are local calendars, not networked calendars. Deleting every account on the device simply deletes every calendar except these. There is no way I have found or can imagine to delete these local calendars within the limitations of the current iOS. One has to go outside iOS, either with jailbreaking (currently impossible with iOS 10) or by editing the data in a backup and then reloading.

Sorry guys you are correct I have done this several times repeating the steps with success. Regardless if they are locally stored or synced from cloud.

Settings>Calendar>Accounts "DELETE EVERY SINGLE ACCOUNT" sign out of iCloud and remove from iPhone.

Then final and most important step:

Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings.

You will now see Calendar duplication will have disappeared phone should be running cooler and battery life better, however this will not remove the duplicated Birthdays. If you encounter this issue you must use Kelly's custom version of Decipher Tools.

You entirely neglected to mention this "most important" step in your 12/19 post.

Reset All Settings "removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy." That's a data loss that many of us find unacceptable, and none of us should have to undergo.
