I have the same issue with a new IPAD Air 2 - I am on on my 3rd IPAD in 6 weeks and they continue to stop playing videos in every app and I have to restart. I have contacted apple support and they have referred it to the engineers but I don't hold out much hope. The only thing it could be is a bug in IOS 10.2.1 but they are in no hurry to do anything about it.

A restart is the only solution to get them working, I have been online with apple support for

weeks repeating the same issues again and again and going through every option but nothing works other than turning it off and on. support will eventually refer you to the engineers who will ask for a video of the problem and then a diagnostic download, I'm just about to do both.

Hello. I have reported this as a bug before but I didn't get any reply or update from anyone. I just grew tired and weary of checking this discussion since Apple is just ignoring us. It is very frustrating reading this discussion because eventhough how much we badly needed a fix or maybe a reply from them, we dont get any. Maybe they are just waiting until majority of Iphone users experience this so they can act on checking the issue.

Wow, for 6 whole months now embedded video has been broken by iOS 10 with absolutely no fix yet? Amazing..

It's incredible how how many basic functions have been broken in with no mention whatsoever.

You can't even watch videos on the new 'news' app because they simply don't play. Full screen view is the ONLY way iOS 10 will play these videos, embedded DOES NOT WORK. This issue has nothing to do with 3rd party apps or anything other than another bug in iOS.

Hi,

Please escalate this issue to the upmost level as apple is not paying attention to this. I have been facing the same issue on iphone7.

Regards,

No one here can escalate anything. If you want to discuss this with Apple Support, you need to do this yourself. Use the Contact Support button in the upper right of every page of these forums.

Hi!

Same problem here. I even tried recording a video which then wouldn't play.

Netflix gave error 11800, I am searching for an explanation to that but haven't found anything helpful yet.

It affects all videos. Streamed or stored, doesn't matter. I have had the problem a month or two now. A reboot usually fixes the issue for a couple of hours or days.

I really started to hate apple and my iPhone.. why is it harsh to get the updates or free apps from the store until I verify my credit card.?????? Ehy is it so difficult to use my basic life rights which is to have full access of my stored material in my "smart" stupid gadget when an update just drop off a function or player????? Why "smarts" are no more smart?????

However, for those who still hang on to their iPhones, you must have realized that new IOS Updates does not have the Video player anymore anyway, so try to live with a commercial app from the App Store until someone will resolve this minor glitch in God-know-when-sometime

Nothing involving a smart phone is a "basic life right". If you don't have proper back ups to your material, then if anything happens to your phone, you will be without it. That's your responsibility.
