iPhone 7 fades in audio messages

Hi guys

My girlfriend got the new iPhone 7 yesterday, she had the iPhone 6 before. She's very happy with it except one little thing that I can't find the cause:

She is using a lot of audio messages in WhatsApp. The problem is, starting with the iPhone 7, when playing an audio message on the speakers, it starts at very low volume and then automatically fades in to full volume within a few seconds. The problem is: She always missing the beginning of the message because the volume is so low. It does that with every audio message in WhatsApp.

The strange thing is: When playing an audio message in iMessage, it starts at full volume, but when hitting the little speaker icon while playing to turn the sound off, then hitting again to go back to the external speakers, then it also does the "fade in" effect.

Can't find the cause for that and it's pretty annoying.

Anyone got an idea what that could be? Or can anyone reproduce the behavior?

By the way: I don't see this behavior on my iPhone 6S (both have iOS 10.0.1). My 6S is perfectly playing the message in full volume from the start on. I checked every little setting in Preferences but couldn't find anything that could cause this "fade in" effect.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

Understood, and I agree to a certain extent. But there needs to be an option at a minimum. I for one literally NEVER use the earpiece sound up to my head. I ALWAYS use the speaker or speaker phone, or a BT earpiece.

A simple option in settings, perhaps under Accessibility with a warning, would be sufficient.

The alternative as we now know is many of us can not hear messages and have to constantly replay messages/audio.
In addition, on the developer boards there are several app devs whose apps utilize short audio burst data complaining about how their apps have become useless.

Hello, I recently also upgraded from the 6S+ to the 7+ and went from lower volume to increased audio for most apps, but went from no problems to very poor audio quality with in phone speaker volume during in call speaker, as well as recipients complaining that they could not hear me very well and that I was coming in broken and barely audible.

Google maps app faded in from barely audible to almost audible even with the speaker on full blast.

I was able to increase my apps volume to mostly loud

and my google maps app to very loud by

  1. turning off the Bluetooth in app for the Google maps (don't know why it affected the rest of the phone, but it did}
  2. AND then going into my

Settings

General

Accessibility

Call Audio Routing

and enabling SPEAKER instead of Automatic,

3. disabling the Noise cancellation in the the same, settings; General; Accessibility; Noise Cancellation (disabled)

4. and turning Bluetooth off.

5. Also check what audio application is being used by swiping up from the bottom to bring up the tools then swiping to the right to Itunes and choose which method (if available) you might want to choose. For instance, speaker, phone, bluetooth (i think)

5. I will try to see if maybe ordering a new sim card might help as well.

Volume for most apps is better, and loud, but people that I call state that I am coming in broken and muffled.

I even fake called a company with some garbage questions making me sound like a fool, but mostly asking them could they hear me to figure out what settings worked better. they said they could hardly hear me, and that even in regular phone mode I was coming in a little louder but still muffled.... and all this with the Otter box I had for it off.

This is very disturbing.

For the people who have apps that fade in, try checking to see if there is a settings feature where you can turn the bluetooth off, and turn the volume way up.

Good luck, hope this helps...

But what a pain it is to keep toggling the switches!! Hope Apple can fix this issue!!
