I am having the same issue. Whenever I try to activate my 3-month free trial, a popup appears that says "To use this feature, make sure Show Apple Music is selected in Preferences." However, the box is already checked.

This seems to be a software bug, not due to user error.

I had the same issue however I was able to successfully sign up as a student through my iPhone. Just go to the MyUniDays site and find the apple music link. Clicking that will open apple music which will then allow you to sign up as a student.
